Here's a Custom Sicarius I've done, would just like some feedback on what you think

He needs the groin cloth to look 20% cooler!

The braiding and aquilla = too much white in the chest. Hit the aquilla with badab black wash, drybrush it with Dheneb Stone and then highlight with Skull White.

The braids should be washed with Gryphonne Sepia followed with a drybrush of Iyanden Darksun and highlighted up with Sunburst Yellow.

Too plain for a captain. Maybe some sort of image on one of his knee pads. Something like a Roman numeral 2 ' II ' or something showing one of the awards he's won.

Put some "words" (squiggly lines) on the purity seals and maybe add some decoration to the ribbon thing hanging down from the skull on the top of the banner.

Disagree. In this era of "blinged out" marines, this moel is actually a refreshing change.

He as plenty of points of interest without being gaudy and overdone as so many marine models are these days...

He just looks like a guy. Very plain. Could be a sergeant if it wasn't for the over the top banner he's got going on.

Have to agree with Ph34r on this one. He just doesn't have that Sicarius feel to him or really the look of a character.

The painting is nice though.

Thanks for the feedback guys, have added a groin cloth but haven't quite finished it yet, will post a pic this afternoon. Also will add some decoration to his kneepad and purity seals. Wasn't 100% complete but will take those points on and post some more pics to see what you think.

Here's the quick update

The tabard is a fair improvement. He looks a bit more captainly now.

Here's the final version, didn't add the knee pad iconography, as he doesn't have one in the codex.

Not sure if you repainted or it's just the photography, but it seems that the ropes and aquila are more distinct, so good call if it was the former. Purity seals are looking much better and the pteruges are a nice, identifiable feature. Honestly, he isn't that different from when we first saw him, but he looks a lot more like a captain, now - not weighed down with so much bling that a normal man would be crushed instantly, but still easy to pick out as an IC.

Not bad, But I think the power sowrd could be done in a different colour to contrast more. =)

Much better. The "loincloth" thing is called a cingulum .

Pteruges are the strap things that some of the heresy era terminators have under their shoulder pads. Just looked it up and the word means feathers in ancient greek.
