I've converted MPC toy soldier carriers before for my IG army, but 40K scale-wise, they were too big.
(Photos here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/353744.page#2562078 here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/354981.page and here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/361566.page)

So I had someone with a band saw cut off the back third of the toy carrier, and cut out the middle two bogie wheels.
I removed the side fenders, and with cardboard, bitz, legos, and plastic rod made a "Mini-Taurus" version of a IG ersatz APC.
A local ice storm that shut me in the house for two days provided me the all the time needed to apply the rivets.

I put a Aegis turret ring on top, which allows me to switch all manner of weapon and comm systems on it
as needed. The bottom photo shows the smaller APC next to my two original full size conversions.

They're nice! I don't think the other two are too big though, it's being enclosed + the turret that makes your last version seem a lot more 40K.

I own a pair of these APCs and I can tell you they're definitely too big to be chimeras.

Great work brush, what are the measurements now? and did you do anything about the bottom being all open?

Pretty close to a GW Chimera. After cutting its 4.75" in length, about 2. 85" wide, and 2.5" tall. I used card stock in the front and back
of the lower hull.

I have bitz parts in the mail and plans in the making inexpensive, interchangeable Hydra cannons and Manticore missile weapon systems.
The time invested is not just for the fun scratch-building---which I do enjoy, but to stretch my limited cash flow to build up an larger army I could not otherwise afford.

Yeah really great work. It's too bad you can't really fit the tracks upside down since they have no top, I think it would look better. More ground contact and traction, bit of a construction vehicle look.
