I recently completed this army for a comp, adds up to 1500pts minus the Lhamaean model.

That's really terrifically done. I love the subtle edge highlighting.

The icons on the sails are Kabal of the Dead Sun I think, so I'll go with that.

I'm not too fond of the actual colour, but they're very well painted.

I think your army looks damn sharp!

What all did you use in your conversion of the Duke?

The duke was made using some legs and swords from the scourge kit and a kabalite torso, I think his head came from a raider kit and I chopped off a ponytail from another vehicle crews head to give him long hair.

Pretty sure the spike with skull is from the hellions box also.

Very very nice. Definitely original, was expecting another good but run of the mill DE scheme.
This was pleasantly refreshing

They look fantastic Ive gone with a very similar scheme so ill be taking a closer look at the details to steal for my own little pointy dudes

Very nice, really like the fade on the deep reds. All ties together well into a coherent army.

Great color choice and highlighting, the fade is really well done on the vehicles.

I also like your use of bright colors, especially around the warriors eyes, sails, and faces. It makes a great contrast to the overall dark scheme, without getting too garish.

GAH! You used Scourge bodies the Duke and Trueborn like I did!

Haha yeah the scourge kit is great for extra bits to convert with.

Strongly disagree.

The muted color is very ominous yet subtle. I like that you didnt feel the need to paint them like circus clowns. The limited number of colors strengthens the effect.

the only thing I'm not crazy about are the bases. The black rims look unfinished to me.

I also think the grass is too monotone. I would drybrush it with some brown/green to add some depth. I would also try to kepe the tufts a little more random in appearance and placement as they all look the same shape/size and every base seems to have the same number. The placement, size and color needs to have more variety imho.

I liike to have a black band on the bases for all the armies I do, it perhaps however doesnt work quite as well with these ones.
Compared to say some lava bases Im currently doing which have alot more colour and brightness to them.

Something I would have changed in hindsight is use some of those grass tufts you can buy instead of just gluing static grass on.

They still look good, and tbh the models are nice enough that people aren't going to be looking at the bases anyways...

I really like the Lhamaean btw, the highlighting on the robes are great. I plan to try to copy your paint work on her on mine...
