Hi all, throughout this thread I shall be posting up pictures and such of my 1500pt all Khorne Daemon army as I build and paint it.

It will contain;

4x Khorne Herald on chariot
10x Bloodcrushers
40x Bloodletters

So far I have 20 of the Bloodletters and I have begun construction on the Chariots of Khorne.

I will post up some pics shortly.

The bases I am using for the entire army are these skull bases from Micro Art.



I am still deciding what else I could add to the bases, any suggestions are welcome.




Here is a test model for the army colour scheme. In the background you can see the pile of bits Iv started that will be used on the chariots.




I feel the colour scheme is a little bland, because of this Im going to do up another test model that looks like it has heat radiating off it from claws, horns etc.

So everyone knows Bloodletters are red yeah? Well I tried red and I was a bit bored with it, instead I decided to try a limited colour scheme of greys for the body and horns. The only colour so far is the eyes, tongue and some brass on the sword. The reason for the limited colours is that I plan to do some gory blood effects, the limited colours should make the blood stand out more.

Nice idea with the grey scale bloodletters dude, if you don't mind suggestions I have just one little one.
With the combination of the size of the horns and the entirety of the horns painted white it attracts ones eyes away from what they're focusing on, back to the horns.
I would suggest toning done the horns a bit, perhaps a blend from a dark grey from the base to white at the tip, it'll probably take a couple of models to really get right but imo would be a sweet addition to an already impressive model.
But again, just a suggestion. Keep up the good work

Thats a good suggestion, I think the lighting might be overplaying the brighness of the horns though.

I'll do up the blood effects on the model then see how much it stands out in comparison.

If the horns are too much I might have a go at your suggestion.

Iv been trying to figure out how to do the blood effect for the sword etc.

Iv heard something about tamiya clear red being a good paint to use.

Anyone else have suggestions?

I have done up the base for the Bloodletters so far.




And here is a Bloodletter now finished on his base with a matte varnish spray.





I have also made a little progress on the chariots. I'll be transfering the wood texture from the plastic piece onto the plasticard, this will form the floor of the chariots.
The walls of the chariots I will be building using some armour plates left over from my Soulgrinder.

Skulls! Skulls EVERYWHERE.

I'm liking the unorthodox scheme of the Bloodletters.

Gotta have skulls for the skull throne lol.

Iv been playing around with some ideas for the chariots lately and how exactly I will build them.

Now when you think of a chariot you think, hmm its probably got some wheels, its maybe wood and metal and it will have some sort of armour on it to protect the guy inside.

Well, I did originally start with just a wooden base then I planned to put some armoured metal walls on it using left over soulgrinder bits, but then I thought, hey this is a Daemon chariot, it can be whatever I like.

So here is my next idea for what the chariots could look like.






I will eventually have the Princes arms grasping the wooden floor and I'll probably also add some Khorne iconography about the place. Im also thinking I'll either have a bit of a platform behind the prince for the Herald to stand on or, seeings as I'll be using bloodletters from the bloodcrusher box for the heralds I could have them sort of mounting the back of the prince.
Something to make it look like the Herald is trying to climb closer to his target and take a swing.

I am really liking everything but the roller-prince

Well I can always stick with a more traditional chariot, if I do that it gives me more options for putting Khorne symbols and other doodads on the chariot.

Something Id like to do is souls screaming on the armour plates.
Along the lines of what Abbadon has on his sword.

Ill do a mockup of the more traditional one I had in mind and put some pics up soon.

Heres the other chariot idea that I posted a bit about earlier.





Its pretty bare at the moment but its just for a basic idea of how it would look. Those 2 front corners will be chopped to be in line with the armour plates and I would probably chop a bit off the back so its not too long.

This one is alot more in scale for the bloodletter compared to the prince one, with the prince chariot the bloodletter looks a little dwarfed.

Just a quick update, havent really been painting alot, I have bought some tamiya clear red and used it as some blood on this bloodletters sword though.
I reckon it looks pretty decent.



It was a bit of a struggle not to add blood all over the place, but I dont want to go overboard on the blood.
Maybe a model or two I will lol.

So I posted the pics of the bloodletters I have painted now in the wrong thread earlier.

But now here they are. Just have to add some blood to them.

Looking good all together mate. Can't wait for your bloodcrushers.

Well I arrived home from work today and I had mail!

5 boxes of Bloodcrushers and 2 boxes of Bloodletters plus a heap of skull bases.

Time to get to work!

This is pretty much the jugger done, just have to put the guy on top, put him on his base and give it a matt spray.

Its a pretty simple paintjob, Im just aiming for a good tabletop standard for the whole army, I'll put more effort into the chariots though.

Looking slick and sweet.

Decided to do some work on a chariot and figure out more so how I want them to look.

Looks somewhat better than the mock up I posted earlier.




And a shot with a Jugger to give some size comparison.




Im trying to decide between using lots of chains to hook the Jugger to the chariot or a wooden beam thing coming from the underside of the chariot at the front that somehow bolts onto the jugger.

Any suggestions? What would look cooler?

Chains. It's very chaosy.

This is looking like a really good army so far. Well done. With the bases, did you just spray them black and then drybrush some bleached bone on? They look more detailed than that, but with so many to do I am assuming you are using a quick-ish method...?

The bases are just painted with dheneb stone, no undercoat.
Then a white drybrush followed by sepia wash, another white drybrush and finally a black wash.

Excellent work so far! Liking the black theme over the traditional 'brassy reds'.

My suggestion about what to add to the bases: Mix some water effects with a nice red ink and fill the cracks between the skulls with it, then you have blood running between the skulls! (might require more work than that, but you get the idea...)

Ha. A simple way of doing it, yet completely different to how I would have approached it. Thanks, I'll give that a go!

I could do the blood between the skulls with the tamiya clear red I have but I would have to fill in the gaps by hand rather than do it as a wash and that would take a painstakingly long amount of time to do.

Another thing I was thinking along the same lines was to have blood splashes on some of the bases, or drips of blood coming off their sword and pooling a bit on parts of the bases. Id probably do that for tha larger base models just because the bloodletters swords dont hover over their bases.

Next update I have 3 crushers on bases, just need to put the guys on top.
