Helloo Dakkadakka,

thought I'd post some WIP shots of a Wolf Guard Terminator that I'm working on for a painting competition next month. I've gone for a shooting pose with the Assault Cannon but changed the dynamic so that it actually has one- the original arm looks a bit limp in my opinion and doesn't give the impression of aiming and firing the weapon, more of tracking a target maybe. I've modified the Assault Cannon itself, drilling out the barrels, modifying the feed links and adding a roller and ejection port to the side of the weapon- the theory in my mind being that it could be fed with a linked belt when not being fed from the hopper (hence the roller).

Anyhoo, some pictures:

Love the spent brass; that's a really nice touch. did you make those or is that part of a kit from somewhere?

Self made- cut up lengths of plastic rod (1.5mm stuff) and drilled them with a 1mm bit

Nice, this is looking awesome already, can't wait for the finished product

And I agree with the whole aiming thing

That looks awesome. Though it probably looks a bit "limp" normally because it would be extemely heavier to hold the cannon like that. I love the spent cartridges. Wolf guard terminators are some of the best models out the IMO.

Thanks guys. The left arm will be a Power Fist, probably just one straight off the sprue- there's one that is slightly elevated which will offset the heavy right hand side. There will be more spent cases on the ground as I imagine that the hopper can hold a few hundred rounds at least.

As for the base, well, snow I guess. The loose brass will be painted separately from the snow base and pushed into the snow as if they've landed in it.

Or perhaps have a shallow puddle of melted ice at the front of the base and have a few at the bottom... Oh I dunno, something.

Have done a bit more to this tonight but having not charged the camera, pics will have to wait. The base has been built up and covers about 2/3rds of the area, sloping slightly upwards towards the models left hand side. It's going to be a snow base but the front 1/3rd of the base will be a pool of melted snow/ edge of a larger water feature with spent brass and tingz.

Been idle for a while but thought I'd share what I have so far- pics are piss poor but hopefully you'll get the idea! (This is actually a bit of a practice run at using resin and chipping techniques on armour).

Cheers ^^

I need to sort out my lightsource because there's about 3 levels of highlights and chipping on the model that you can't frigging see in the pictures.

I just need to finish the gold areas and the spent cartridges, finish the wolf head details on the assault cannon and power fist and free-hand on Bran Redmaw's company marking on the right shoulder pad.

Oh aye, finish the base with some snow. And grass, And cartridges.

That, sir, is very very cool. The spent brass in particular makes it look like he is rocking and, indeed, rolling. Thanks for sharing!
