Foam core would have been easier to work with and cheaper alternative. also it gives you TONS of creative freedom as far as things clicking together and just being awesome. Check out my thread for an example of one of my WIP: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/428745.page

possibly. but it is MUCH less durable than the material I am working with here, Also with foamcore you have to "edge" each piece or the internal foam shows through and looks a little wonky.
That said, I can make "masters" using foamcore relatively easily. (other things make more durable masters for creation of multiple molds, tho which is why I have not made any foamcore masters... Yet.)

Oh and thats some nice terrain, have you thought of putting about 3" of cardboard between each floor for walkway support?
Or you could extend the molded piece so that a portion fits between each wall for extra support, though I'm sure you've got an idea for supporting that walkway. I need to look at your other terrain threads.

Awesome stuff man!
Thanks. Once the elmers has fully cured the walkways are plenty strong (on the other ruins I made I've used the walkways as a kind of grab handle to manipulate them.)

Well.... I had an accident this morning. Whilst sanding down the spackle on the base I knocked the ruin off the surface It was on... It fell, and well detonated...
I did find all of the pieces and reassembled it. Pics of the fall damage follow
Now after I reassembled it I began adding rubble to where rubble would be (mostly) and the rest of the floor/walkways.
All that is left now is adding sand to the "dirt" type areas of the base (where the spackle is on the base) then painting, decorating and weathering...
Non weathering/Detailing painting is now done... Pics will follow. Next is clean up a little overspray, add caution stripes (on the door), Posterification, and weathering.
Pics of pre-detailing painting.

That is a nice building ruin now that I have seen what it has been through. Very nice work Galorn!

Fantastic, the fall actually made it more realistic. Every bombed out building I've ever seen for real had structural cracking like that. It added that perfect detail to an already fantastic work. You should consider doing it for a whole series of pieces. Really though your work is fantastic I will be following you.

I work (relatively) cheap too. If you're in the US a ruin that size would cost 60$ (inc shipping)
I've heard a friend of mine, mxwllmdr, was supposed to contact you about a table we are going to be building. He has been singing your praises, and I wanted to check it out for myself. I've been surfing your stuff, he wasn't lying, you have some serious skill.

thanks. What was the table going to consist of by the by? (I think he MAY have contacted me at one point about buying molds...)
Still in the drawing phase, he has to clear out some of his scratch-builds before we have time, should be starting late springish? It's going to be a urban city under-siege, looking to have a playable sewer-level as well. We are still drawing out the plans and coming to conclusions though.

The "sewer" level would probably work best as a separate but "linked" table. (I.E. defined entry/exit points on each tabletop.) otherwise the "sewers" will effectively just be trenches...

thinking either a seperate 3x3 section to rep tunnels, or what I would really like to do is a cut away on the long side of the table about nine inches in that will be the external sewer level, with any traveling from spots via sewer grates being in game dynamics similiar to a reserve roll system. playing with the concept of having it random as well which section you will show back up on, to represent getting lost in the tunnels. Obviously that would only be there if people wanted to use those rules, otherwise it would be a urban siege scape table.
