I think there should be a whole forum or thread for Tau bashing that would serve as an "arena" for Tau players and Tau bashers to argue on, so other people who are sick of reading the Tau skirmishes on every thread, can read more than 1 thread without coming across some person who has to make it their mission to state that he or she hates the Tau.

This way the Tau bashing and arguing is contained on one thread or forum, so every other thread doesn't get ruined and eventually locked down.

I didn't really know where to post this and i'm pretty sure it'll get shut down in 5 minutes but if you agree or have any problems with this just be kind and tell me what you feel about it.

Is it just because they're the animae army that everyone takes exception to them? Really?

Well if you really don't like anime, as I don't, or the modern obsession with Japan, then there's a very high chance you're not going to like Tau - I positively loathe them (but then I loathe all xenos except Orks). If GW had given them katana-ish CC weapons that would have turned me to absolute hate on the models.

As for their background? I don't mind that so much - good to have a fledgling empire sort of opposing the Imperium with a completely different philosophy and intentions, although their 'Greater Good' can hide so much darkness, like a shiny veneer covering an abyss.

1) like Zweischneid said, if there was "bashing" it had to be contained at every theme, not just tau.
2) The flaw of Tau is, GW hasn't written so much yet about them and something of what they have isn't consistent. Thus some feel entitled to fill the gaps with fanwank. This never works.
3) parts of the fanbase don't attempt to write something positive without something negative about others peoples armies.
Tau are one of the usual themes when this happens. Maybe GW shouldn't use Tau/IoM that often and put more Tau / ork ,Tau / eldar , Tau / nids, Tau / chaos, Tau / necrons into their small fluff bits and storylines. As it stands right now, the arguments are never : 'my stuff is nice' , its always 'my stuff is nicer than yours'. Every thread locked had suffered from exactly this.
4) anything not supplied from GW doesn't belong into background, it belongs into Dakka fiction.
5) if just a few start a fight, why does no one call both parties to stand down? Would need a bit of a neutral PoV tough.
6) Actually even xeno-fans were thrown under the bus because they didn't post what Tau fans expected. "greatar food" is fine until you mimic your faction by posting a PoV that allows just one "canon".
7) consider why no faction complains as much as Tau do. You can post the same statements about everyone, except Tau, without problems.

Personally, I would like an army with katana type weapons. Not Tau, because it just goes contrary to their fluff, but an army with katanas would be pretty cool, imho.

And I think everyone should just stop talking about Tau in any way, even this way.

@ King Crow. I hate Tau. They gave me the 'bad-touch'. Do you know how shameful it was when the Inquisitor asked me to show him on the doll where I was touched by the Tau? We need MORE Tau hate threads to get the message out! Tau are bad, bad men.

I think there should be a section of the forum for suggesting that there should be other sections of the forum that you may only say things in those sections of the forum, when talking about other sections of the forum.

I've never really noticed an overabundance of tau bashing. I guess it just blends in with the general overabundance of bashing in general.

I have two strategies for handling Tau bashing.

The first of these strategies is a direct approach, where a swift and precise strike brings a halt to the bashing, usually following being alerted to Tau bashing by careful study of where the Tau bashing is taking place and then delivering a killing blow to the key elements of the Tau bashing. This is a more aggressive approach, and means that I have to seek Tau bashing out directly.

The second of these strategies, and the one the OP advocates, is a more patient strategy where Tau bashing is lured into specially prepared 'Tau bashing kill-zones', often with dummy threads and feints drawing Tau bashers into the primary thread. This patient hunter approach means that we have to wait for the Tau bashers to come to us, but we can control the environment to a greater degree.

Both of these schools of thought have strong supporters, historically, but only a single poster (a guy named Puretide) ever managed to master both.

Creating a special subforum for Tau, GW, Mat Ward, or whatever bashing is a bad thing. It validates it in a way that's not exactly healthy, and it won't stop people from being idiots everywhere else. Even so, I'm not seeing lots of Tau hate anywhere so I don't know where you're hanging out.

I tells ya, Tau fans get no respect. No respect I tells ya! I told my psychiatrist that everyone hates me. He said I was being ridiculous - everyone hasn't met me yet.

1. Put your big-girl panties on and deal with it. You can't handle a little Tau hate?

2. As stated above there is a lot of hate about a lot of different subjects. Tau get their share but Matt Ward, GK and GW pricing seems to get bashed alot more.

3. If someone is bashing a thread with hate, then please ask them to desist.

I do wince at the tau dependence on mecha suits. To the point I ALMOST didn't start an army of them but I did. Now I may write about the things I dislike about the Tau but they do have a niche in the 40k universe.

I understand why people arn't a huge fan of the Tau. In the grim future there is only...the greater good? Yeah, they don't exactly fit into the warhammer universe at all. But that being said, I don't really mind them. They do add a different dynamic.

The way I see it, it can't always be rainbows and butterflies, but it can't always be skulls and black cats either. Tau add a bit of optimism for the 40K universe...even if it's sort of a nazi regime like optimism. At least they try to be your friends before they shoot you.

I disagree. Bashing any or all of the above is justifiable. It can be done by intelligent people making intelligent arguments, whereas Tau bashing cannot.

The most common problem with the Tau is in fact their fluff. People refer to me as "the biggest Tau hater here", but in fact I do not hate the Tau. I love their optimistic ideas and models, but as much of their culture is unknown I can only guess about that things. Like in the last thread "Tau more grimdark then they appear". Because we don't know much of the fluff peopel are mostly giving their own opinions on almost 100% of all things Tau related. Of course much of that opinions doesn't get along with Tau player as it ruins their picture of Tau. So they start to make excuses like "genocidal thread" and "Tau hate" etc...

And there is one major fact here: Tau are not the most hated faction at all - Space Wolves are then Grey Knights ( I remember the results from that thread ). And there is more bashing about the Imperium and Humanity then for all others on this site, yet I am not complaining about any of that and widely accept other people opinions and share my views ( liek KingDeath, he is total opposite of me - Chaos fan to the bone. And still we get along quite well, sometimes I share my opinion, sometimes he his and we both respect our opinions ). Of course when something is not quite clear I ask about that and discuss if necessary.

Tau thread with sensitive question always end in debate witch faction is the most powerful ( as troop strengths and numbers, power of ships, and victories and losses are always mentioned from both sides ) even if the answer in the end if always "Imperium would kill them all if he had time and interest". The simplest solution for that would be to just write our opinion if we must and the write nothing else, to simply ignore answering to certain posts and thus avoid flame war completely ( I started this technic and it is working, sometimes I delete posts before I post them when I realize that they will start that kind of thing. I just leave it be and look at something else ).

So the conclusion would be to simply not ask certain "things related to the Tau that has appeared in recent media until new codex and novels arrive. Or if that question pop's up - present your own proff why is this impossible and leave it be.

I hate the Tau, as an Imperial Guard player who uses heavy armor I need no justification.

And really people? You play a game based on people hating each other and you think we should not be allowed to hate as well?

I just say that we should respect other people opinions and their choices.
The point of the game is to enjoy and have fun - not hating other people.

I thought we were talking about Tau bashing not Tau player bashing.

I have the utmost respect for anyone playing the Tau. They are not an easy army to master and not very forgiving.

OTOH - I hate the concept of the space pope. I kind of dislike the idea of EVERY commander is going to be in a mecha suit. They hit me like leninist communists idealistic marxists... no sense of reality but they do think they are serving the greater good.

Reminds me of the thread about people who hated people who hate Matt Ward.

I love Matt Ward, anyway, but still hate the Tau, Apples and Oranges my boy.

It's not the Tau bashing that gets to me, it's when a thread comes up asking weather someone should get a Tau army or a Eldar army, and then the thread gets shut down for some dill weed who has to Tau bash.
