The Alien movies have always been a favorite of mine. I thought it interesting that over the years GW has taken the Tyranid race from a cartoonish brightly colored race to a more sinister looking purpose built biological weapon.

Enter my bright idea and I am sure I am not the first person to do this.
Converting genestealers which are not particularly scary looking to the Alien warriors from my nightmares.

With a little snipping, some green stuff and a magnifying head set you too can do this.... it was easier than I thought it would be to manipulate the putty.

These are WIP and I will update as I go, however this project is a back burner one for me since I dont play Nids and probably only have about 500 pts.

Make sure you save those Genestealer arms for the hive tyrant converion... I am gonna make it a queen, with lots of little useless T-Rex arms that it would be flailing about wildly while it tail whips and bites the heads of things.

Still have to add the back flutes, the flaired colors and the long tail.

I make fun of a friend of mine for running what basically amounts to a Genestealer only army. But if they looked like this I would mind a whole lot less.

I was thinking an army fully converted this way would be awesome. Like I said its a back burner projected of mine for when i get sick of paiting RED BA or hundreds of guardsmen but its a dream I have to one day field the baddest scariest bug army. Another cool theme would of course be Starship Troopers themed bugs... I will have to leave that one for someone else

This should go as a call out to places like Chapterhouse...how about some Aliens conversion kits for the 'stealers...

Yeah, those heads are a little busy for me though and dont seem to capture the sinister prescence. The Alien head is just so iconic.... the lower jaw drops and the last thing you see are those little jaws flying at your face....

Nice, i always fancied building an aliens inspired nid army

I always thought the tyranids looked a lot like Aliens, which is one reason why I'd perhaps not get any. I still suffer Alien-related nightmares :(

Yours look great so far, you've really nailed the head I actually prefer the sleek look from Alien to the furrowed look from Aliens. The back flutes and tail will really make it. Also those are the standard genestealer hands? Really? They look exactly like the hands from the Xenomorph in Alien!

The front arms are the genestealer arms with an extra thumb taken from the set of arms that are removed. Alien warriors have a 4 digit hand.

Careful with the paint. Simply spraying black and glossing doesn't work. I friend did it. His army just look like a messy army on incredible basing work.

Can't believe it's been so long, taking care of a 2 year old will warp your sense of time. In preparation to watch Promethius I have been watching all the older Alien movies in order and its got my butt in gear working on these guys. I recently got my hands on the Tyranids codex and was psyched to see that some of the models can have acid blood. I don't even care if its viable, I just want an Alien themed Tyranids force. So I have made a littl more head way, also working on the hive tyrant which will be a Queen. Green stuff work is slow going since I work the green stuff in layers but I should have some pics up later this afternoon of my progress.

Hopefully my thread necromancy acceptable in this situation.
