So, this has been a long time coming. Around 10 years.
I've been a member of DakkaDakka since before the time of Yakface and Co's takeover.
When Mauleed was the resident Stelek (although that is probably an unfair comparison).
When HBMC still used 'BYE' at the end of every post.
When it was an actual physical store.
I'd spend hours sitting as the curtain of images would stutteringly decent from the top of the screen through all the tactic painting and modelling articles; quite literally with a 56k modem as my net connection!
I've been involved in the hobby since 2000-2001, but have never finished an army before. This is due to several reasons (Uni, overseas trips, work, etc.) but I have spent an unhealthy amount of time looking at
40K related material on the net. SO MANY WASTED HOURS!!!
So now, wracked with guilt at the amount of time I have spent looking up random threads on the net, and the models and bits I have sitting around to make an impressive force, I'll be damned if by the time I’m 30 I don’t have a sizable marine force painted (whether or not I paint it is another story).
Originally I had intended on using the Chaos Codex to represent a psychically adept chapter. Dual weilding swordsmen were intended to act in game terms as summoned daemons, and in fluff terms as psychic constructs created via Librarian powers (which may or may not have called upon entities within the warp and which would obviously have raised the ire of the inquisition).
When 5th edition was released and the rule of 'troops scoring' was presented that idea began to dissipate. I turned to the original Daemonhunter codex and the Grey Knights as a rules source. Despite the weaknesses of the codex, I wanted a marine force which didn't use tactical marines as troops. My first forays into list building are here:

I knew that I would put far too much effort into each model for it to be considered a bog standard guy, and I really liked the thought of high level Power Armoured troops.
After dabbling with the thought of Blood Angels instead, the impending release of the Grey Knight codex brought a smile to my face. I've been dabbling around making some models but I think that the next push will need some sort of blog entry to track my progress and such. After sourcing a multitude of bits and other such novelties I'm all set to create the Angels of Shadow.
So these guys were created way back when.
Way before The
BT boxed set was released.
Way before the
DA box was released.
For instance, this guy has been through the wringer.
This particular model has had his head carved out and a knightly/crusader helm put in place.
Arms pinned.
He's probably 6-8 years old.
More here. Pictures are just as bad but it's 1AM and I don't have a huge amount of real sunlight on hand at the moment:

Over the course of that last few weeks I've been slowly putting some other guys together. I've now got about 40 at different stages of construction. More (and better) pics will follow.
