So I got in a game against my buddy (Mauz) in our garage. He wanted to try out my Space Wolves and I whipped out an older Dual Conclave list I had to try out. I swapped 1 henchman from each of the conclave from my old list to get dozers for everything that had one modeled (Doms and Exos)

We went with 5 Objectives, Pitched Battle. He won the roll for first turn with the Bjorn reroll and deployed. I scouted the three Dominions up to 12" away from his army and popped smoke, giving pretty much everyone cover (either from terrain or from Doms). First pic is the start of his turn with Deployment and scout moves:



Turn 1 SW
Wow. There is a lot of shooting in this army. All three Dominion rhinos get exploded and suffer heavy casualties getting out. Not a single Dom Superior survives, so no melta for me. Jacobus' ride gets immobilized and weapon destroyed. I think he passes around a couple other low results on some other vehicles. He also casts Storm Caller this turn. See Turn 1 SOB pic for all the destruction.

Turn 1 SOB

Dominions get out of the craters and move forward to his lines. Jacobus hops out and hides behind terrain and BSS rhino for re-embark on Turn 2. BSS get up in DT for firing position. Kyrinov and BSS in center advance 12 and pop smoke. Far left Dominion falls back from their crater, but I move Kyrinov to get them within 6" next turn.

In shooting, I pop the forward razorb, stun a typhoon and pop the TW RP's Ride. Dominions fire at RP GH and put down 11 wounds, which he saves all of. DOH. LF lose 1 to flamers.

End of 1: Sisters ~2 objectives (hard to tell without measuring since it was close to 3") - SW 0

Turn 2 SW
No Wolf Scouts (They fail to come out until 5 although I move my exos every turn to prevent nastiness).
Bjorn charges and whiffs on the BSS rhino. Two dominion squads get wiped out by shooting and assault. Shake on Exorcist. Crazy good rolling on Cover saves for vehicles leave me largely unscathed. He advances his grey hunters / consolidates them forward (this ends up being a bad move).

Turn 2 SOB

Jacobus hops in and moves forward (popping Smoke). BSS moves rapidly away from Bjorn towards objective. Kyrinov pops out and multis on a 5 Man GH and 7 Man + RP GH. They go poof. Shaken Exo goes and hides. Fearless regrouped Dominions (2 flamers left) get in Kyrinov's rhino.

In shooting, one Exorcist gets an Immobilize on Bjorn (YES!). I proceed to not shoot him for the rest of the game. Some stuns and such on other vehicles. Typhoon gets immobilized facing my BSS and Exo. Pop the other Rhino.

End of 2: Sisters ~2 objectives (hard to tell without measuring since it was close to 3") - SW 0

Turn 3 SW

Kyrinov gets wrecked by bolter fire and frag missiles. I mess up assigning wounds and lose more than I need to. He gets left with one crusader and Kyr. He again pours firs into vehicles and they largely survive except the far right BSS rhino which gets popped.

Turn 3 SOB
Jacobus hops out for multi-assault on two LF. BSS Rhino Tank Shocks a LF and gets DOG blown up. BSS get ready to shoot up LF. Dominions hop out of Rhino and assault a RB (stunning it). Exos shuffle around. Jacobus fails his 2" DF terrain roll and is left in the breeze! 1 LF dies from BSS shooting. Aggh.

End of 3: Sisters ~3 objectives - SW 1

Turn 4 SW

He tries to tank shock with RB and it gets popped with Krak. LFs pour fire into Jacobus and BSS near his LF. GH charge the BSS but lock. His RP/GH squad moves onto his objective. BSS on far right take a lot of fire and run off the board. AGGGH! Exorcist on far left gets the gun blown off. Exorcist on Far right gets blown up. Far left BSS gets shot at a lot by Bjorn but holds.

Turn 4 SOB

Exorcist without gun tank shocks a LF squad and they break. Jacobus multis a LF and GH that assaulted the BSS poofing them. My mobile rhino tears ass to contest his objective.

End of 4: Sisters 2 objectives - SW 1

Turn 5 SW

Scouts come in right behind the BSS on the far left objective. They assault and break the SOB. Conclave gets nuked down to one crusader and two DCA. BSS is out of sight and can't be shot at. Fire bounces off the contest rhino (he probably should have prioritized this more but I think he thought he had it with what he was firing and also over prioritized Jacobus, which may have been revenge. lol We also had a good chance of going to 6.) Dominion gets tank shocked by RB and one DoG and dies. They pass morale.

Turn 5 SOB

Faith fails to regroup the breaking SOB! ARRRGH. They run off. Conclave is too far away to assault to runs. Rhino tank shocks onto objective, GH DoGs and dies. Dominion runs up to flamer GH on the objective and kills no one. I forgot to assault with her to try to lock and contest.

End of 5: Sisters 1 objectives - SW 1 (Contested)

Does it end? Yep.

Good report, I thought you were finished once he wrecked all three of the Dominions Immolators.

With so many Long Fangs I am surprised he did not pour Missiles into the Kyrinov squads so he could Frag out the contents. The standard SoB squads are not (imo) very threatening to his Grey Hunters overall.

Was the Immobilize on Bjorn after his Venerable Re-roll? I think his real 'lynchpin' to taking you down is to put Bjorn into the Uriah conclave.

Omg, I expected some pain, but that was evil. And I lost 2-3 from each squad in the explosion and he still had enough shooting to put results all over the place.

No, SoBs did very little in this game. He did pour a lot into the conclaves but they still managed to get across. He did acknowledge the mistake of advancing within 12" of the Kyrinov rhino. I think he thought the DT would slow me down, but there was a gap I moved through.

Crud, we remembered the Invul, but forgot the Venerable. This is the first time either of us ran him. I was really dancing around Bjorn because I didn't want him to be fearless and have another objective.

That was a close one for sure.

Nice BR. This is just a suggestion on how you deployed I would have going in a 9 vehicle block on a flank VS. setting up right across from him the whole way across the board.

I think with SW you have to overload a flank to really break them.

Just my opinion though. Nice squeak out

Yeah, on the deployment, I thought about some alternates, but was trying to maximize my cover from terrain. I probably should have deployed everything on the right flank and the parking lotted in front of his rhino wall, but was worried about getting overrun on one of my objectives.

My plan was to put a strong center to keep him bottled (3 doms and Kyr) and keep most of the rest next to my two objectives. I still managed to bottle him up with the dominions taking the middle and that allowed my two objective holders to keep the back objectives for most of the game. He probably wanted to be much more aggressive, but this was his first time with SW.

@Jancoran and Spidey0804: Yeah, it was squeaky. He just had so much on the board it was tough to kill it all. lol

Good job on the win. I think shooty SW is a tough matchup for sisters, though I think your opponent's inexperience with the battle conclaves did him in.

Absolutely agree. The key mistake he made was advancing those two grey hunters within 12" of my Kyrinov conclave's rhino. I think he thought the DT would slow them down. Other than that, he poured a lot of fire into Kyr and Jac's rhinos but managed to get some poor results and I got some good cover/SoF saves on them. The only reason I didn't die horribly for the most part was rotating smoke and cover saves.

I'll tell you what I really missed in this game, which was Celestine. When I lost the right rear objective and had only a rhino to try to get to that GH squad with RP, I really missed her mobility. If she was there she could have run right over and made a contest/mess of them.

It makes me feel like I want to keep her, even in a 2k list.

She's definitely good. If I was a SoB player, I would keep her and Jacobus, even at 2K.

I think you did great even once you had a bad round. They are a bit more resilient then they get credit for.

Yeah, next time I do 2k, I'll run her again and see how it goes. It will get me another squad of something with the difference, as well. I liked the two conclaves, but they seemed like overkill and a bit slow. Plus, I threw kyrinov away since I knew I had another one. lol

Definitely putting Celestine back in at 2k.

Nice game. 2k is a difficult point to play at for sisters as the good choices for units can be played/taken in a 1750 game.
Did you ever try to unimmobilize the rhino on the left flank? If not it could have been a contestor late game

This is SO contrary to my experience. I know it is anecdotal, but she pulls WAY over her weight in every single game I field her in. In this game she would have tied up a scoring unit for turns probably or just eaten those long fangs and then hopped around looking for targets, leaving Jacobus to take care of the center.

It did actually get unimmobilized on turn 5 shooting. We both Lol'd at the time. I spent every turn trying. It was way too late at that point to get it anywhere good. It could have harassed the wolf scouts if it went to 6, I guess.

Yeah, absolutely! I was pouring fire into the mobility for his GH in an effort to keep him bottled up and it worked. Meanwhile, the freaking longfangs were ripping my a new arse.

I think thats how my opponents feel when I play my version of my Sisters sometimes.

Yeah, my sisters are at 21 in that list and usually higher if I run Celestine. It can just be overwhelming.
Makes me wonder:
Looking at the Turn 5 SOB Pic I had 6 Units alive: 2 Exos, 2 Rhinos, BSS, Conclave. So he got 15 KP (21 KP total)
he had 6 units alive: Long Fangs, RP, GH, Razorback, Wolf Scouts, Bjorn. So I got 14 KP (20 KP total in his list)
So a real squeaker on KP as well.

See and that's one of those thing that makes me question why do Sisters get the shrug off as not being able to compete. He tore you up really hard Rnd 1. Yeah first time playing wolves but not his first time playing so I'm going to assume he knew what he was doing.

You were able to weather, Complete the mission and win and take out 14 KP of his after you were blasted Rnd 1.

Anyway great point about taking out 14kp worth of wolves, in 5 turns.

I always laugh when I see people talking about how SOB can't compete. I am certainly not the best player and do pretty darn well with them at local tourneys (8-24 people) in a fairly big city (Portland, OR).

I'm not trying to argue but who are all these SoB haters? I haven't run into any yet.

I have always thought they were solid. Faith points are great. Immortal Celestein is one of the best HQ's in the game. Melta and flamers on cheaper power armored gals are great. An awesome heavy support tank. AND a conclave that's on crack.

Most of the complaining I have encountered was based on the fact they got a crappy white dwarf update instead of a shiny new release like cons or DE.

Again I am not tying to spark an argument, I just haven't come across this hate cloud yet. Gimme some directions so I can help you pull it out of the air lol.

The reason Pretre was able to get back into the game is, in my opinion, because he outplayed his opponent. Giving up several multi-charges to a Battle Conclave is a terrible terrible mistake and should never happen. Especially with the conclave on foot.

Edit: No knocking your play at all on this one Pretre, just an army facing SW with T3 WS3 in Power Armour is not particularly resilient overall.

Well, to be fair to my opponent, they were in a Rhino, so not walking per se.

It's cool, no worries. As I have said time and again, I am a thoroughly mid-grade player. I only do well in events because I try to make sure my entire army is well-presented, I don't cock-punch anyone from a sportsmanship perspective and I'm not a bad player. I don't really excel in any of the three areas though. If anyone's hoping I'm gonna go to some event and take on the big boys, they are sadly mistaken. lol

Re: T3WS3 If you saw, I lost girls in droves to every stiff breeze that blew in their direction. I got chewed up in a couple close combats and I really missed the FNP for Kyrinov's squad.

Sisters of Battle appeared zero times in the Adepticon from the chart I saw. that tells you a TON about what people think of it.

the advantage that gives us, psychologically, is huge. I can guarantee you my opponents aren't going to think much of my army right to their bitter end and they'll spend half the game wondering what the heck i am doing (which could be good on one hand and bad on the other).

Kinda like when I beat people up with an all Guardian based army. they sure didn't see that coming!

Im literally in the process of painting that exact list....except Ill bring Melta Dominions instead of flamer ones.

really impressed with how the conclaves did basically carrying the list, which is what I envisioned them doing on paper.

Really not impressed with the Space Wolf Player. He should have shot at the conclaves ride first, the dominions really didnt serve as a threat. If I were playing the wolves list I woulda popped both conclaves inbackfield without smoke, then taken on the dominions, and I woulda sent scouts towards exorcists(obv).
