Due to me wanting to take advantage of the new ally rules to put together an army as awesome as possible by creating hordes of beastmen to use as orks, although I have run in to a problem, I simply can't get enough round 25mm bases to stick them on to.
I've looked at bits companies, but they're always sold out, and other sellers have them greatly overpriced.
Id rather not have to use scenic ones, as I can't really afford them.
Apologies for mistakes, written from my iPod.

No closed 25mm though by a quick flick through, only slottas for that size. Greatly appreciate the effort though dear chum!

Think EM4 will be your best price for the Eurozone.
Proxie Models or Renaissance Inks for the US and Canada.
IIRC Back 2 Basix is the one in Australia.
All of them offer bulk pricing on them.
Not sure if you like the idea of a scenic base and just have written them off because of the cost, but Champ Industries has a couple styles to choose from which can be picked up fairly cheap as well:
http://www.champindustries.net/bases.html
With a little friendly coercion, you might be able to convince Ken over at Proxie Models to cut a mold as well...I have always thought that injection molded plastic scenic bases would be the place to start for small companies like his. Relatively low cost, and it is something that sells for years with little regard to style of sculpting or scale of figures. I believe they actually have them - just not listed on their site. Fire off an email to check.

I just went through this. Learning this from the old-school wargaming players, I opted for the wooden base approach. Typically you can buy the appropriate size disks from online or from arts/crafts shops. This place also does wooden disk bases for a fairly good rate: http://www.litko.net/ I bought a dowel of the appropriate diameter (25mm or 1 inch) and have cut it myself (3.175mm or1/8 inch thick). I can get a couple hundred bases for under $5. Screw plastic and resin bases. The price differentiation is too dramatic for me to go back. $7 for 10 bases GW (~$0.70/base) vs $3.50 for for over a hundred Wood ($0.03/base @ 100 bases). Yeah...

Never tried them my self, but have been meaning too. Probly one of the better $$ to base ratios you can get, as long as you don't mind MDF bases over normal plastic ones.

Trouble is, they are mostly if not entirely from dealers who greatly overprice them, and it ends up being just as easy to buy from gw, I need about 60 or so, thats £18, and in effect another box of gors. I have a pretty strict budget, otherwise I get in trouble... I'm sure a fair few of you know what I'm talking about.

Many of the more reputable Chinese eBay outfits sell genuine GW bases in bags of 100 or so for around $10. They had the molds in country - and are still turning them out (along with nearly every other item which was ever produced in China).
If you are on a tight budget - that would likely be your best way to get them.

Not sure about your definition of ''overpriced'' for bases, so hopefully that'll do.

Why do they need to be plain? Wouldn't it be just as easy to get some of the much more common slottabase ones and cover said slot with a small strip of card? As long as you're flocking the bases you'll never see the card strip.

Slotted bases are quickly fixed with a piece of tape. Once based, no on will ever see the hole.
Or check the GW site...

That price is terrible compared to EM4. Masking tape over the slot takes a few seconds and you get 6 times the bases for the money.
Good call winnertakesall, by the way, on porting over beastmen-- the gors are fabulous miniatures.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better. |

Quarters are pretty much the same size as bases. Trace quarters on cardboard/plasticard and cut em out.

It's really easy to fill the slots in if all you can get is slotted ones, you just have to make sure you stick the minis to the plastic bits and not the filler (or fill them by covering them over with thin plastic/plasticard)
