Hello all

I have a non-geek girlfriend. I successuffly introduce her to fantasy movie (L.o.t.r., Potter).
She also like to paint miniature. She now enjoy many boardgames. She even did try a
roleplaying game once (warhammer).

That's good and all.

I would like her to try bloodbowl. It's an awesome wargame, fun & fast.
But she is not interested at all and I'm affraid that if I push to much,
it will spoil the game. And I don't want that.

How to explain why Bloodbowl (or wargaming) is fun?

Try cooperative miniature boardgames for awhile. Descent, Ravenloft, etc.

Then try competitive miniature boardgames - Last Night on Earth, etc.

Then introduce Blood Bowl as a variation on the competitive boardgames. and as a chance to use the miniatures she's been helping you paint. Twi teams of Bloodbowl miniatures, along with all of the other stuff over the preceding months...

Good thing you added bloodbowel in brackets otherwise I would have been suggesting a completely different forum.

You start small and work your way into the hobby.

Here's a question: Does she like american football or cricket? If no to either, don't waste your time trying to get her into the game.

Another idea would be a small skirmish game like Mordheim or Necromunda.
The low miniature count, fast games, and campaign "mode" have proved excellent when breaking people into wargaming on my experience.

Completely agree. I've got a lot of friends to play board games like Doom & the D&D board games, Last Night on Earth etc. People who would sooner burst into flames than go anywhere near a tabletop wargame.

If you can't convince her, then nothing we say will help.

I'd go with Zombicide - a great game.

It's pretty brutal but it is also cooperative rather than competitive.

Fight zombies an survive together, pretty nice I think. It will also avoid that awkward moment where she kicks your arse for the first time!

Malifaux is a really great way to introduce females to mini wargaming. The figures are pretty cool and can fit into almost any geeky interest (horror, steampunk, victorian, you name it) and the basics are pretty simple to pick up on. The cost is nice too.

thanks all.

I will try to paint a new team with her.

first: it's a cool thing to do all by itself.
Second: Maybe she will want to play with it. Maybe...

Thanks Kroothawk, I did not know that website . Very cool...

You might try something that she wants to play. say, Hey, I'm into this and this and this. how about you? These are some games, you want to try them?

This one has this, this one has that. yadda yadda.

It's kinda a give and take. I'd show her the choices, then see what she says.

Mine took in on some zombie stuff and told me that the "Little green guys were kinda cute." ( yeah, the Grots.)

We don't play much, but we still have a laugh on them once in awhile.

And then theres the Take her into those girlly girl joints, and get tortured looking at T and A..... Poor pitiful me.
