Hi all,

I have started to hook into painting up a black templar army with all the bells and whistles and i have hit a bit of a brick wall with the shoulder pads.
Attached are images of a few options i am considering, i was hoping to get a few opinions on which might be the best way to go.

========================================================================================================
for A1 i did the following

Primed white
Base coat Vallejo off White
Trimmings done with a 50/50 mix of Vallejo bloody red and Gore red
one more coat of Vallejo off white

A2 is the same pad but with a 50/50 mix of badaab black and h20 applied to the white surface.
========================================================================================================
For B1 the following was done

primed black

Base coat of Vallejo Chainmail metallic
1 coat of Vallejo off white on the trimming and pad surface
then trimmings done with a 50/50 mix of Vallejo bloody red and Gore red
pad surface then given 2 more layers of Off white
Once dry i took a scratching tool i made out of some fine wire bound together and strapped to an old hobby knife handle
and i scratched through the white paint until the chainmail base coat was slightly visible.

B2 is the same pad but with an undiluted coat of Badaab black
========================================================================================================

Each seems to have its own charm though i must admit B2 looks a bit too grubby.

Any thoughts?

I like B1 myself. It has a nice battle worn feel to it. Though i'd not black line the little square. That just seems a little off imo.

thanks for the assist guys, i think i'm going to go with B1 but i might experiment a bit more and throw a wash over the metallic layer prior to painting the white layers. I'm hoping this will help make the exposed metallic surface stand out just a little bit more when i scratch the paint.
