I'm finding "blog view" to be a real PITA.

1) It takes up the same physical, visual and mental location of [First Unread] which I depend on to make sure I can keep up with the large number of blogs I subscribe to. This makes looking for recently updated blogs (even though they move to the top) very confusing as I'm constantly hitting the brackets, only to find that I'm on page one of a pre-sorted blog. OR... blogs I want to keep up with don't get checked because every bloody blog is now bracketed and they get lost and slowly drop down the page and out of my view (if it's not a heavily commented on blog).

2) It's completely redundant because you can just "Filter" the blog when you enter it, getting exactly the same result.

The one thing that blog view does that filter doesn't do is that it condenses ALL the posts, not just a particular user's posts.

Yes, blog view is a bit of a pain, but like Redbeard said, just read it. my muscle memory has already started to pick up on the differences now. You'll be fine Gits

Yeh good points from Alf, and there are some great benefits!

For instance, long blogs don't seem so daunting now so i've started reading them one at a time.

If other people feel the same maybe you'll indirectly benefit, Gits?

The blog view button is in a much better place now than when it was at the end - I kept on hitting it rather than going to first unread

I also like not having to filter the thread - also helps block out all the random chatter in some of the larger blogs and leave only the juicy goodness.

Of course... just because I don't like it doesn't mean I expect it to change. I assume it won't. But I also assume that I'm free to state my discontent in the appropriate forum.

The yin and yang of gits.... sometimes I do nice P&M blogs... and sometimes I b*tch about kids being on my lawn. Good comes with the bad I'm afraid.

Also, don't worry about it man. One thing you might want to try is to clear out your browser history and then re-logg back onto Dakka. Go to your subscribed threads, and simply just click the first unread button. Once you have that clicked, it should keep it that nice clicked yellow, rather than the forum orange. Thus making it different visually from the blog view

The blog view has actually made the N&R forum readable again, since I can just pick out the OP's posts and not have read read "hurrr mat ward draigo mary sue" 100 times per page.

Hmmm... part of dakka I don't hang out on much. Obviously not very important then.

I mostly made it so I could finally read your blogs gitsplitta lol. Muscle memory will adjust and the hints given about link colouring are also good. If you really hate it you could always get a greasemonkey script set up to remove it for yourself, but you'll find you adjust soon enough. At least it is a much smaller change than the time many moons ago when I switched the navigation from the far right of the header to the far left. Now that led to some really cranky people

Yeah, OK... I guess I deserved that. I'm sure I'll adjust to it... I'm just such a creature of habit that when my mind sees brackets I'm assuming I'm going to get new content.
