Its all done!

I enjoy commission painting very much, it gives me a warm glow of achievement. I hope to do more. Somewhere out there in the world is someone who needs me to paint stuff!

This is the one you've seen me working on. I added watery blue-grey washes to the ferrous metals and some terracota wash for rush was dabbed here and there. Everything metal got loads of freehand highlights. Lots of finishing off details etc

Its important to have skills! Napoleon dynamite thought so. Its odd - when I'm completely sober I pick holes in them but now I've had few ales they do look proper nice.

Thanks graven - it was a very quickly done thing using paintbrush because I wanted to get the photos up. But simple is best for logos

SJM - Thankyou. This kind of work on models of this size is 20GBP at the mo. That's a pretty low price per hour. I'm probably going to have to charge more soon...

^ yes! Or Skem's Studio. I don't actually have a studio though - just my half of the coffee table!! I doesnt look much like a coffee table anymore with its micro vice and cutting board and ranks of paint pots.

I should probably get a special commission work blog and a website with terms and conditions etc. So much to do.

Right now though I have to get ready to go to the big city (plymouth) for a drunken reunion with old friends.

Very nice work on those, weety. I'd agree on the need for a website with price breakdown, gallery and, as commissions start getting completed, testimonials for satisfied customers. Might be worth picking up with Ifanaan on the T&C side of things, to see if she has any suggestions.

Looks like he is off to a cracking start, weety - can't get over that face, which is a really nice sculpt getting what it deserves.

I'm on holiday at the mo so I can carry on with it today. The face is looking proper. He just needs his eyes picking out and a little redness around his ears and nose to bring him to life.

He is such a detailed sculpt - I also can't get over that face - the ears are so fine I was worried I might cut them off while doing mold lines! (I had that song from reservoir dogs playing in my head). And the tiny skeleton on the hourglass is unbelievable. Sculptors are like surgeons these days huh.

I find the mail really impressive on that figure. No idea how they do that!

Gits': You make thousands of tiny rings and then capture a pixie and make it attach them all together into the mail. You then dress up the model, glue it in place and then cast it and bingo...

It is a very nice sculpt. Look forward to you working your magic on it Weety.

Really Dr H? I thought they had a giant shrink ray like in 'Inner Space' and then they shrink the sculptor down to size and he makes the mail out of extra fine rice noodles. Either way its entirely plausible.

Well, maybe that's how they make the rings. But it's definitely pixies that make the mail, it's the only logical explanation...

Today's progress update. I emphasise that this isn't finished - I'm going to paint the fabric a colour, but just not sure which. Also the weird candle arrangement on his shoulder needs to look more like wax - maybe beeswax??
