HELLO

So, I have a few weeks gap at Xmas coming up and I'd like to do a small, intense project - something that will give me a new army/detachment, and can be completed in a week or two. What shall I do?

Chaos Cultists - I have 30-40 robed Cawdor/Tallarn/Redemptionist/DarkAge models all ready to go as a small Cultist Detachment, either as Cultists in my Slaanesh CSM or as allied Guard with maybe the odd artillery piece. I'm thinking Pastel Pink...

Necrons - I've got a big army of original Necron Raiders, which have been waiting for an excuse for frenzied painting for a while now. This is by far the biggest project to try and complete, but I would get a whole new army out of it. They'll be bronze and stone coloured.

Warriors of Chaos - while digging around in my storage the other week, I found my childhood Chaos army, and I like the idea of stripping them, painting them, and building a WHFB army. This would give me a whole new system to play, though I don't know anyone who actually plays it yet!! A pastel blue Tzeentch scheme, I think...

Tau Gue-vesa Human Auxillaries - A detachment of allied guard for my Tau - formed as blob squads with a couple of Tauified Hydras and an Ethereal Commissar...

Arbites IG Detachment - just carry on with my Arbites and spend xmas painting a load of Chimeras, Sabres and a Leman Russ Riot Vehicle. This allows me to field the Arbites in a new way, and make full use of the Allies rules to take the Imperial Guard section of the army...

If you do Warriors of Chaos I could try and match you with my circa 1992 Warriors of Chaos army that also needs stripping and painting...

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Hmmm... you're not planning on Tzeentch too, are you? Cos if not, we could have a New Year gods duel...

(of course, we'd have to learn to play first)

yeah,
Dude - you know the rule - No New Game Systems!
...except star wars... it's ok if it's star wars.
But if it's not star wars you apply the rule, No New Game Systems!

I think the math here is sound.
WHFB =/= starwars = No New Game Systems! = No WHFB!

Necrons!
Very easy one week army! Build and Spray a solid colour (not green) and call them done.
No one complains they look great with only one colour and zero effort! and no one complains.

Cultists - do you have access to lots of DV cultists? i
Tau - maybe

Panic...

Retro Necrons FTW!

I remember getting one of them on the front of a White Dwarf and thinking how weird it was that GW was adding a new 40K race...

Feth, everyone has voted for Necrons. I'd better get started - that's a bloody massive new army. I'll leave the poll running a bit longer, in case fifty people want to vote for something else and make my life easier.

Oh, also, anyone got a spare metal Tomb Spyder they don't need?

Star Wars Counts! Anyway, I already have the models, so it's not new. This means that it's SENSIBLE to start Warhammer. I'll lend you some undead when the Kings of War Kickstarter comes in and everyone is playing Fantasy and you feel left out...

I'm not up for all the inevitable complaints. I'm going to spray mine BRONZE and call them done. Because they are shiny, nobody will complain.

I have a massive pile of metal Cawdor, Redeptionists, Flagellants, Tallarns and other guys in robes. None of that plastic DV rubbish...

Old school 'crons.
Yours would be the second one I've seen since they were introduced as a raiding force (when they became an "army" a lot of the players in my area just stopped playing them).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Hmm. It's getting close but Necrons are still in the lead....

Cultists are probably best left out now - in a few months we'll get a new Daemons codex, so maybe it's best to do a big Chaos push next year..

Should I give in and start preparing the bronze, or will Arbites catch up?

Tau are running a close third place here - unexpected gains in the Tau sector.

I don't even know when this poll ends!

I think the people said 'Necrons or Tau'.

But i don't care. It's already halfway through the week and have I started a new project? Have I feth...

I don't need this stupid poll anyways. I'm an adult. I can make up my own mind. I don't need to ask people on the internet. So I carried on with my Arbites and finished all the shields. But I don't know what colour to paint them. Help me, people of the internet!!!!

What colour should Ian paint his shields? - http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/330/346076.page
