Hi guys, I have been playing 40K again after a few years break, (started with the 2nd Edition and Epic Space Marine) and am doing a Blood Angels army, so being in the (Former Soviet) Republic of Georgia these days (thanks to the wife ) I have to be a bit creative. I have been making this Stormraven using 3mm plastic sheet, .25mm plastic place mats, glue stick tubes with toothpaste caps for the engines, cut down pill bottle stoppers for the thrusters, and clear plastic yogurt pottle lids for the canopy sections. Hope you guys like it.

Thanks Johnno, still got a few more details to do, the under wing missile pods and it now has BA vehicle transfers on the red sections on the thrusters and the white Imperial Aquila either side of the nose.

Thanks guys. It has taken about 2 or 3 days to make all up if we are talking 8 hours at a time, still got to make a flying base for it yet. I was thinking about getting some clear plastic rulers and using the centre sections (cutting off the numbered bits)

At first i thought that it may look a little bit "flat" without some more details but the painted piece looks way better than i had expected. Great work.

Thanks Doomhammer, it looks better in real life too, as the paint is a satin finish that is slightly reflective with the flash, here are a couple of pics with the BA sigils and imperial aquila on, still have to add the hellstorm bolters and the missile pods under the wings. The third pic shows the hellstorm bolters on the right of the pic

That, sir, is Epic. You have got some talent. I love the idea of scratch-building but I can't even make a uniform box out of sheet styrene.

I don't normally care for scratch builds but this one is very close to the genuine article, if I hadn't known to begin with I wouldn't know from these pics that it wasn't a plastic kit

This is one of the most "production accurate" scratch-builds I've seen in a looooong time. Outstanding work

I was originally playing 2E where if you wanted anything other than a rhino, LR, or Leman Russ you had to build it yourself LOL

I used templates converted from a paper model version by Patoroch to make it, quite a bit of adjustment was needed to suit the materials I used however. If you can find his templates on line they make a good starting point.

The Baal Preds are going well, will post pics when done.
