Hi all,

I'm a new poster on the forum but I have been lurking around for a year or so. I have been wanting to start painting my Emperors Children army but have never been fond of the classic pink colour scheme. A while ago I saw pictures like the ones attached and have been wondering what colours and/or combinations are being used to achieve this. it looks to me like a base of grey with a mix of purple/pink

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions on how best to achieve this scheme?

Thanks in advance.

I'm definitely no painter but i'd suspect a grey that is highlighted in different layers up to nearly white and then washed with some layers of watered down blue or purple wash.

The source of those pics is from warseer froum and i think somewhere inside the painter explains how he archieved it. maybe you can browse through it as i don't know on which page exactly.

This is the mentioned topic: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?155488-A-canticle-of-pleasure-and-pain-%28mostly-pain%29

Not a big fan of doing emperor's children in anything other than black and pink, except the odd unit or vehicles as purple. Don't get me wrong, I own nothing black and pink at all except for my Emperor's Children army. Black and Pink works very well because it stands out from the rest of the armies. And those are the colours of the post-heresy Children and as such should be taken.

Slightly off topic, but why not just choose another army to paint? It'd be like painting ultramarines purple because you don't like the blue...

As for the point of the original post, You could probably get a similar effect with daemonette hide and some purple wash, for the armour.

I personally think they look rubbish, colour wise! But that's just my opinion, and it only counts as far as you want it to. Have fun. I strongly recommend black and pink though.
With some other bright colours thrown in on the noise marines!!

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Painting with washes is an awesome way to paint for people like me who are lazy

Undercoat the marines white, then use a pink/purple wash on the pink bits and a black wash on the black bits. You might need a couple of coats but you will get a really nice shading effect on the armour similar to the pink bits seen on the infantry models above.

Same with the black wash on the black armour parts, though watering down black paint might be more efficient as the GW black wash isn't very strong.
