This is a transaction report for Ahriman085 and will be used to collate information about who and what he has stolen or fraudulently obtained models from and we can then use that to pursue legal and criminal proceedings.

I posted an Ork army to him (naively) two weeks ago. He followed the same pattern as he has done with others, promising tracking numbers and never delivering. Other members were promised the same items that were promised to me.

If anyone else involved could post what they have lost or how much money was sent, even if you have managed to recover the money please post anyway as it will be relevant to the police report.

I have a postal address obviously which I won't post here (I guess mods want this stuff kept private) but if we can collate the financial transaction information that he used as well.

Thanks in advance folks, lets take the fraudster down.

I'll collect the information of what he has stolen from you here but would you both mind sending me any payment details and postage addresses in a private message and I will collect and compare.

I've already PM's someone but I'd appreciate a volunteer to be on hand to communicate with the police in the USA to save me on phone bills. I will of course be making at least one or two of my own phone calls.

I completed a transaction with him before I went off to Adepticon.

I traded him a large lot of Ork things with BA things and in turn received Chaos Space Marine items.

The trade was completed. The oddity though was the frantic nature of his PMs and urgency to complete the transaction. But he shipped first and nothing bad happened on either end.

Here is a compilation of what we traded:

My:

2 Rhino's
2 Stormravens
BA marines / sang guard kitbashed (I think this numbered around 22ish)
2 BA HQ
Ork Bits, around 6 pounds worth give or take.

His:

Khorne Beserkers 22 - 10 painted 12 bare plastic a few assembled the rest on sprue still
Defiler painted Khorne colors
2 Spawns bodys assebled heads arms and bits on sprue
10 possessed 5 partially assembled 5 off sprue in bits
1 well painted Nurgle Dreadnought / hellbrute twin link las and CC arm
CSM marines all off sprue in bits enough bits to make 10 CSM have all bits off srue for all configurations
Terminators+ Chaos sorcerer in termi armor
CSM Bits
DV hellbrute
DV chaos lord
DV chosen x11
3 mace
2 axe
2 bolter
4 bolt pistol

I have nearly all PMs with him in the event that information is needed.

Many of the bitz within the trade have already been added to my bitz bins. If we can get a compilation of what was traded, perhaps we can find out if any of these items are from other owners. I feel dirty thinking that some of what I traded may be from other owners poached of their goods illegally.

The good news is is that none of the Ork bits I sent him could really constitute Lootas; it was the sum of a huge lot of bits primarily for vehicles.

And he stated his sister wanted to start Orks and the BA was for his father.

Just checking consistency with what others were told.

Without posting information, this person uses different aliases when conducting business, but the address remains the same.

The incidences started with first contact to the initial victims in late March.

Advice on how to proceed with handling this incident from a Bartertown moderator and Dakka Dakka user:

Note: Edited out mentions of where he lives.

Visit your local PD or Sheriff's office and file a report on him.
BRING YOUR PROOF:
Bring a printed copy of EVERY PM or Email you exchanged. Have them in the order that they were sent/received.
--Even include your own in this, as it will show a complete line of communication.
Bring a list of everything you sent and the current MSRP. If you can provide a print out from the appropriate web site, then all the better. If the items you sent were OOP or (like a Hellbrute) not available individually, bring a few examples that show the aftermarket SALE price of these items (note: eBay COMPLETED auctions on SOLD items would work well for this).
File the report and ask them to follow up with the PD to ask them to take action on it. Detective said this is the only way they will take action on your complaint, so make sure your PD knows this and BE PERSISTENT!

This is my own personal advice:
Ask the officer/detective to let you know after he has successfully contacted the PD.
Ask when you can expect to hear back from him.
If he does not call you on that day, you call him the following one.
Be persistent (I can't say this enough). Stay on them to get the help you want and need.

If you encounter anything during your experience that you think might be helpful (an officer gives you advice or you have success when saying a certain thing), PLEASE post that information into your own thread and all of the other Redemtion086 threads.
If you find out who is working your case in Norwich, PLEASE post that information into your own thread and all of the other Redemtion086 threads.

My friend and I got scammed by this guy. He said he had an additional ork army with 12 Lootas, so I paid for those. My friend bought 10 DC with jump packs and an Astorath. Total was $52, and I paypaled it to him, as a gift :/

Is there anyway to get your money back if it was a gift?

Gifting means you have very little chance to recoup the money from him. Read over the whole process of gifting in Paypal to see if there is anything that can be done. I remember it saying it absolves Paypal of most if not all claims against them.

Thanks WarOne

Right we have a consistent address and location which is Norwich USA.

No specifics mentioned in thread of course. We have a Steam Account, and I presume we have a Paypal account though I've yet to get any details.

Can I get Paypal information and bank details if anyone has them PM'd to me?

After this I will ask Dakka to provide as much IP and other pertinent information as possible (if not to me they will have to provide it to the police). We have other gaming accounts, warseer and some ancillery information about other interests and local stores who I will be contacting, or someone will do on my behalf.

I have sent PMs out to MagickalMemories over at Bartertown and another member who I am 99% certain I have parts of his collection in my possession from the trade.

I've sent out another PM to you cowen70.

Hopefully this can be swiftly resolved.

Such as it is, there is about a dozen victims or potential victims and the list keeps growing.

Keep any information you have on this particular matter.

I'm so far the closest in terms of travel distance to him; about an hour away with a ferry ride and road travel.

Either way, keep the PMs. It seems like some of this stuff mentioned can be rightfully given back to their original owners. Any info could be critical.

EDIT: I have the original box sent to me by Ahriman085 along with the stickers from the USPS based near his address. Is it possible to garner any information from this?

I traded him a 70$ warstore gift card for two stormravens. Strangely, he lives not far from me (An hour or so) and offered to meet to exchange. I have yet to receive them or any inclination they have actually shipped, but it's only been about a week. I'll keep this thread updated on if I hear anything.

Yes the storm ravens are a common theme I was offered them as was another member.

I think if you live so close could one of you ring and make some enquiries with the local sheriff or police department and we could start to get the ball rolling on this.

I know it is a pain but if someone is willing I'm collecting the information and will be happy to supply the information via email. It looks like we can get ahold of this fella fairly easily so we might as well get started.

Just so everyone is aware this is a felony crime and is theft. That means it is worth pursuing. Not so sure we'll get our stuff back but if the tool gets put away or other retribution I'm happy.

I'm willing to give him another week before I join the mob.

In the U.S. this would likely fall under small claims court, which is a massive pain in the ass to deal with.

I bought some meganobs and paid via paypal (edit: $29, for the record). This was mid last week, so there is still a chance he actually shipped them. I'll know more this week, and update as necessary.

As I understand it, if you call paypal (rather than use the electronic system for disputing the transaction) you may be able to be refunded, even for a gift. Paypal said to wait seven days to see if the items arrive.

Maybe this person will make good.

1. Accepting payment with no intention of shipping goods or doing a fraudulent trade is not a civil matter it is theft and felony.

2. To the poster who said he will give him a chance...he has stolen off a bunch of other people so are you only in this out of self interest?

3. To the other poster. The meganobs would MY meganobs so you are giving him a chance to facilitate trading you stolen goods, MY STOLEN GOODS. It doesn't matter if he has shipped them or not, they are my damn models.

Sorry to get irritated but you have to get on board here, we're dealing with a thief who has screwed over up to a dozen dakka members...if all you care about is receiving your own goods, you must surely care if they are other members stolen goods?????????????????????????????

Unfortunately since it was done online local PDs do not get involved. You report online fraud and theft to cyber crimes and make the USPS aware. If it was done through paypal you have a good chance of getting your money back. Thats it. I reported a user who ripped me off in Nov 2012 and nothing has come of it. I gave address, provided pics, got into his facebook and sent messages to all his family and friends, sent emails to all his professors at UC chico, left messages with his dean. I even set up accounts with magazines in his name to flood his mailbox. Everything was done except go to his home, which i found out is illegal. Cant break the law to get back stolen goods. Thanks OJ.

Actually local PDs do get involved. I had a fraudulent trade with someone in FL, called his local PD, filed a report, sent him all the relevant emails, links to the trade threads, etc. They took the report (as you mentioned, it is theft, and mail fraud). I also filed mail fraud charges with USPS at the same time. I do believe the local PD paid him a visit, as it prompted delivery of the promised goods.

Typically, as per the Bartertown links above, you must first file a police report with YOUR local PD, then reference that report when you call HIS local PD. And local PDs will get more involved the higher the dollar amounts go. In this case, across what, two or three boards, people are out money. It all adds up.

@ cruentus
Im sorry but i dont believe you about the PD paying him a visit based on emails. I think when you told him authorites were now involved he got scared and sent. Reason being you would have gotten the items back after he was arrested for theft. You didnt get them from the PD. I called my local PD and his local PD when i got ripped off and they both said Local PDs do not handle online fraud claims. I guess do to the high traffic of online fraud, there is a new website they both refered me to IC3 website. Allegedly its monitored by the FBI. Nothing has come of my report. I even filed another one under a diff name. Nada. So im a little hesitant to beleive you, that the PD actually went to his house, didnt arrest him for theft, and PD didnt send you the items back.

OK

I sent out a FW Mega Dread to him last week, in exchange for a ghost ark and an annihilation barge. Friday he told me he was going to send me tracking for the items he was sending after he got off work, but it never came. I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon just yet, as it is possible he is still sending them. However, I didn't research into him like I usually do because he was from my native CT and we chatted about it for a bit. Luckily, I shipped through UPS, in case things like this happen. I can return the package to me but it's going to cost me. I will keep this thread posted on his response.

It's he said she said. I've been through this before. In the U.S. this is most likely going to end up as a civil suit.
