Subject: Space Marine Scout Head Conversions/Alternatives (Preferably Helmets)

So, I am looking for a scout head alternative. I was digging through my bits and figured out that I have nearly 15 standard scouts and have decided to build them. The problem is, I hate the standard space maring scout heads aside from the scout snipers with NVGs of which I have none at the moment. I have seen people use IG (standard and Forge World), Pig Iron helmets, etc. but I cannot justify buying more bits just for some scouts.
A few years back, I believe in WD, I saw a conversion where someone had simply shaved down and modified some standard SM helmets to fit a scout body and it looked quite good. For the life of me I cannot find a picture of this. Anyone out there have some pics/suggestions for doing some simple mods for scout helmets?
Cheers!

I've seen those but I don't really feel like ordering FW parts just for some scouts. I want to use the ones I have. Thanks, though.

I used bits from Puppets War and the rifle is from Anvil Industries, don't have a finished picture.

Pig iron head sprues are prety cheap and you end up with really nice heads very simply. How much time will you spend converting up unique heads and how much is your time worth?

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Time is something I have at the moment. I mainly didn't want to order from FW. Pig Iron may be a good alternative. I'll research further, thanks.

Despite the sideway picture (argh, my neck) it looks ok.
But it still looks very close to a space marine helmet.(which might be your goal) Maybe remove those larger side elements or at least file those round thingies away to change the appearance further.
Another option could be to use the beaky heads (if you have enough spares) and use those. Just cut away the nose and carve/GS a grill on it instead.
