Subject: 40K Video Battle Report: Eldar vs. Draigowing and Chaos/Daemons vs. Draigowing
Gordy drives down to the shop to throw down the gauntlet and challenge Reecius’ Eldar! After that, he and Frankie get a pick up game against Frankie’s Chaos/Daemon list.

Great battle. Don't know much about Daemons or Grey Knights, so I won't really comment on that other than it seemed a really fun game.
Deldar continue to impress. The Wraithknight can just brutalize things. I don't think I've seen one die yet, other than my own in one game do to stupid deployment (died in one turn too, right after I said it wouldn't, grr). Normally love the +S for Hellions, not sure how much it would have been useful in this game. Warp Spiders, as well, always play amazingly. Have you thought of trying to include any Caltrop Reavers in that army? I think it would work really well, especially as support to the other jetbikes or to help keep your troops out of combat.
Thanks for sharing!

As a Draigowing player myself, I am actually concerned about facing eldar. They've got the mobility to stay away and the range to out-shoot the knights. I'm glad the old RoW is gone, but eldar is still a tough fight for the knights.
I've tried similar lists like Frankie's and it is tough to consistently win with them. The lists are so unbalanced that you usually either dominate an opponent or get dominated yourself. I've also been running Fateweaver recently and it makes a world of different if you can re-roll a failed Grimoire or grounding test.
I have not tried the Reavers. If they were troops, yeah! But lacking that, I think they could be solid with some heat lances. Not sure, I want to like them (lovely models) but I have trouble putting points into them over some of the other choices, personally.
And my Wraithknight has been a champ, although after about a dozen games, he finally died! Nooooo! Haha, it was due to a total error on my part not knowing a rule, but hey, that is the best way to learn: a tough lesson.
@jy2
Yeah, and that is how Frankie always tends to play. He loves those extreme lists.
I think Fateweaver is the best HQ in the Daemon book. I honestly wouldn't play them without him, he mitigates their randomness so much.

Care to explain what rule caused his death? I need to see a batrep where you lose Reece I want to see your eldar balloon deflated just a little haha! Great batreps again as usual.

My Daemon Prince with the Black Mace.
He didn't know that it (the Black Mace) had Fleshbane.
Yup, and then with Prescience, Warp Speed and the bonus attacks from the Daemon Weapon, I got smoked in 1 round of combat! hahah, won't ever make that mistake again.
And I finally did lose! Tau beat me quite soundly when they seized the initiative on me. His dice were hot and it was pretty ugly, only had 4 models left on the table at the end, but I did almost win! It was close despite the drubbing I was taking. Always play to the objectives
Watched the first bat rep, sums up how my draigowing has been going, if you get unlucky with the dice the list is very unforgiving, but good game anyways.

Shouldn't EVERY non-Tau army be concerned about playing against Eldar? They seem to have answers to everything! A lot of the talk around the place seems to focus on a lack of anti-air options, but I think that the abundance of twin-linking combined with either War Walkers, Wave Serpents, or Spiders is enough.
Are there any real foils to new Eldar?

Fast assault, long range fire power and heavy air are the biggest. Scatter lasers can twink-link your other weapons on that model, but they only have 4 shots and a 36 inch range.

Tbh my Necrons don't fear them... but it will be a much tougher fight than it used to be...
You have ruled this galaxy for ten thousand years
Yet have little of account to show for your efforts
Order. Unity. Obedience.
We taught the galaxy these things

Nice batreps. Wraithknight is still a boss. Mine finally died for the first time this weekend. My opponent's dice were hot with BS2 Orks...LOL. I got missiled down with crazy hot dice. Oh well. I still won that game 4-3. I'm really intrigued by your inclusion of DE, Reece and why you made the decision to include DE. What about the other choices that you were taking that made you decide to not include them anymore? I play both DE and Eldar so I'm curious to see what combos I can come up with since I have multiples of every unit entry in the DE codex (my DE is APOC sized).
Great report. Regarding the rules question at the start, there's a part in the Iyanden Codex that says in any army list you may only choose options from one Codex supplement, so I guess this means you can't take your power from one book on one and from the other on the second.
Same as previously: Venom Spam is brutal, as is any armor with lots of Barrage and/or Template weapons. Against Mechdar, any armor with massed mid range firepower like Tau, IG and Shooty Wolves.
@Yellowfever
And the Walkers move 6" and have Battle Focus, giving them a potential range of 36" to 48"
@CaptKaruthors
DE add a lot to my list. The Baron gives me +1 to go first, which is great in itself, but also he makes Hellions awesome who are a fantastic troop and are my answer to light infantry, taking backfield objective and killing most MC's. They combo so well with a Jetseer. Prescience makes them deadly.
The Ravager is a great tank and brings me anti heavy infantry, light infantry and MC duty. Plus it is fast as hell!
I am thinking about adding another DE troop possibly, but not certain. I just wanted those little extra bits.
@Godless
That is how I read it, too. You just have to specify if each character is from either book. I would suppose that if you use a team of Spirit Seers from the Iyanden book, they'd all have to take Iyanden stuff, though.
Yeah, his dice were awful, no doubt. That played a big part in it for sure. I think he made some deployment errors, too, but dice were huge.
I got smoked by Tau, that so far is my only loss. I also tied Chaos but that was largely due to only 1 Heldrake coming in by turn 3. Luck helped me a lot on that one, also.
Eldar are rock solid though, I feel very confident in them at this point of play testing.
@paqman
Everyone asks that! It is an old Sabol product. They stopped making them, but they are really nice. It is an HD picture printed on a 4'x6' piece of high density carpet.
