A good read, and blowing the flamer off two heldrakes in two consecutive turns with interceptor fire was just nuts

It sure was nuts, though having 2 shots thanks to fast shot and tank hunter thanks to the commander sure helped! It was also nice of my opponent to fail his invulnerable saves .

Enjoyable read. Looking forward to the DE and chaos games despite knowing what the outcome will be! Well played.

Any ideas why in 2nd game your opponent turbo boosted right next to you instead of shooting?

Tbh i think the chaos opponent sucked in your 4th match, deepstriking those oblits was a huge mistake...

Again he should have deepstruck typhus and termies for a part out of LOS of those intercepting crap and the majority of shooting, he was to anxious. He got very bad luck with his drakes to. and the list needed a coms relay to have better chances on having more reserves at once.

All in all, this list is nutts, well balanced, and you seem to know your tactics an priorities very well.

@naw, i think he figured he could survive first turn shooting and try to get a decisive 2nd turn charge though I am not sure what shooting 1st turn would have done for him except had him farther away and maybe done a few wounds here an there. In my opinion, he made the stronger move as his shooting was very short range and he had decent cc elements.

@valek, it was hammer an anvil deployment so he had to get oblits and terminators close to my lines to try and keep me from getting objectives but ultimately it didn't work out for him... My interceptor shooting didn't really do anything anyway so that wasnt a problem (MON means t5). It didn't help that I had 2 objectives right off so all in all he was playing an uphill battle :(.

I think he could have played certain things better, for sure, but I also think he was so thrilled and surprised he made it to the finals he was just having fun this game.


All in all, I look at my first 4 games as a warm up for the last 2 which were much closer and hard fought .

The Typhus versus Riptide came up in amatch recently for us as well. I Don't really like the smash rule myself with so many melee specialist at t4 or 5 and no etrenal warrior. Just means any monster will auto kill them close to 100% of the times even though they are range specialists. Feels a tad silly that a Champion of chaos such as Typhus can be beat in melee by a riptide any day of the week :S

Lovely battle reports mate and as new Eldar player myself it's nice to pick up a few tips and tricks.

Some great games in there, and an interesting army to boot. Well done on your final placing, and I am looking forward to seeing your final few games.

@Fenric, it does kind of suck to have Typhus killed by a Riptide but hey, it was a risky move and it could have ended just as badly for me. All in all, thanks for the comments and hopefully next time GW won't ruin CSM/melee units? =)

Tyhus' weakness is against monstrous creatures. I've killed him a couple of times with my tervigons, though he did kill my tervigons in return....I think.

Anyways, congrats in the tournament so far. Yeah, that game #5 was kind of sticky, but it was very sporty of you to allow it to continue. This happened to me as well in a tournament, only my opponent decided to play another game turn with just 1 minute remaining!

Why did the riptide take a LD test and run off the board? I might have missunderstood that it was in HtH??

Great last game there, as down to the wire as can be.

I really thought Reece should have went through with the Dread charge anyway, as whereas they was the risk of it being destroyed, if not he may have killed some Wraithguard, but not charging meant that there was a much greater chance of the Dread being ganked.

Didn't know that the Rune Priest's shaky stick only works if he has LOS to the psyker (or at least I'm guessing that's why you said it doesn't work on a guy inside a transport). That's very good to know.

@painnen, the Riptide is NOT fearless, so losing combat means taking a Ld test, which I barely failed:(.

@mimicry, models in a transport are not technically on the board so they can't be affected or targeted by enemy abilities, usually. For example, Doom of Malanthai can't affect units on transports.

Ok, some of my observations with regards to Reece's game.

First off, congrats on winning the GTGT. It's more a testament to your skill than it is to the army to be able to pull it off. Yeah, eldar has all the tools to do so and you used them masterfully. Very well done. Next year, I will be coming after your title.

2 of the rules blunders hurt your chances but you still won despite them. First was Reece embarking his hunters into the LRC for protection. It didn't make a difference, but only because he forget to disembark him onto the objective at the end. Second was the combat with your reapers and the Ironclad. I agree with you in that the combat should have been a tie. You could have chosen to apply the penetration result first.

However, here I would disagree. I think you played it wrong here. The runic staff can affect psychic powers cast within a vehicle. The only stipulation is that if a psychic test is successfully passed within 24" of the RP. There is no stipulation that the model has to be on the table and not in transports.

For precedent, look no further than to the Tyranid FAQ, where they FAQ'd that a unit in a transport is affected by Shadows in the Warp.

@ Jy2, Well, Reece went along with the way we played it so oops, perhaps? The staff is slightly different than shadow so who knows how it really should be used...personally I can't wait for it to be removed/nerfed! Eldar lost their runes so its only a matter of time.

Regarding the othe rules issues, they were indeed minor but I pointed then out for the sake of discussion and am glad they didn't affect the game
