Hello Dakka,

I have started blogging a while ago (you can find my blog here: http://voyageaucentredelenfer.blogspot.de/, and several of the commentors there have suggested that "I go to Dakka". I have been following a few army blogs here anyway (PDH, Neil101, Bruticus, GuitaRasmus, KrautScientist,...), so I figured "why not?".

My current project is my 40K army of ChainsawDaemonEngines, a 40K Daemon army with a twist (or two). It started out as a purely Nurgle force, but soon I ended up integrating Daemons from other deities as well, properly nurglized, of course. As narrative is the driving force behind all my armies/projects, I quickly came up with a storyline for this, but more on that later.

So first, I'd like to make a couple of posts to catch up with all I've done so far over the next few days, and then move on to current work. I also have some side projects now and again, and the occasional musings might also find their way into this thread. But first, let us start with the ChainsawDaemonEngines.

Your pics aren't working. Try downloading them into the dakkadakka gallery and then to your blog.

Fixed.

Do I always have to upload to the gallery first?

Not sure you have to, but its just the easiest way, also it didn't direct link so I couldn't click on them to get a blown up view which the gallery does. Also doesn't eat your bandwidth if that's any issue.

Very nice looking demon. I will have to keep my eyes open on this blog.

These things are totally nuts. I wish I could see the unpainted models to try and figure out how you made them, even though I think I just don't know the base miniatures for most of them. It's great to see something totally original, my only critiques would be that they look a bit busy on those bases, which I think I mentioned to you before. I have a preference for bases that blend into the gaming board as much as possible, which I suppose those might do if you have a pretty mental gaming board.

Have you considered using Dark Eldar Khymrerae to make more? Those are nice models.

I searched my archive, but only thing I could come up with that wasn't at least undercoated is this:

Yeah, I see what you're saying, but my goal here was to portray the Daemons as denizens of a surrounding that is just as twisted and corrupted as them, due to their very presence. There are accounts in Realm of Chaos of grass catching fire and stones beginning to scream when the Minions of Chaos approach, that kind of thing. I just coudn't see them walking on regular grass
That's a purely subjective point, though...

I think I had, at one point. Don't remember why I didn't do it eventually, I think I had a lot of old Confro stuff lying around which I just had to convert into something, or it would never be built and used. But thanks for the tip, I'll look into it when I decide to go for more hounds.

Next up: my version of Furies. I took a strong cue from insects, especially the archetypical flies of Nurgle.
Also, with the wings, I tried to emulate natural patterns from actual butterflies and other insects.

Blowflies of Nurgle - just brilliant!

I particularly like the insect patterns on the wings, very we'll done, they must look ace on the tabletop!

These Daemon conversions are simply amazing. I love the way you've incorporated some mechanical bits.

Looking forward to seeing what the rest of your army turns out like.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.
