For your information spine. Gail was probably one of the greatest trolls ever. He started out as a person who, just got very very angry whenever his position was declared wrong. He had personal vendettas against several members of this forum, and a raging hatred against anyone who was not liberal. He then proceeded to have an amazingly large meltdown, where his passive aggressive insults against people were replaced by rabid swearing and blatant insults.

I'm still amused at how famous he's gotten....when I last saw him he was still reasonably sane.

Its really just more of the same; Him being quite strongly opinionated, other people disagreeing, things getting personal until he snapped.

From what I saw, he was treated much better on dakka then in other places; I honestly thought he was a pretty decent guy who got heated about certain things, and felt like he was being picked on, even if I did think most of his theories were pretty crazy.

Yeah, I've just flipped through. Though you are right....none of the other threads he's posted on in other forums lasted long before being closed down. I agree with you on the 'strongly opinionated' part...I thought that till his insults against me carried past just standard internet stuff, getting very personal AND going on between threads. To me that was what sealed it in my mind that he was insane....

Even though he may be strongly opinionated, some of the stuff I've seen on other forums is just...way out there. Like on this EN World Thread .

Interestingly, I stumbled across a page on encyclopedia dramatica about Gailbraithe, it was under a different handle though; It was kinda interesting to see that what happened here had already happened on other boards.
