That's disappointing but not unexpected.

I really was looking forward to the new designs CMON showed off a few years ago.

Maybe they'll be able to take the figures that already were being worked on and roll them into a new sci fi game? Perhaps without the stigma of being called Sedition Wars?

Nobody can argue that the designs themselves weren't nice looking.

With CMON's advances in plastic figures maybe a rebranded and renamed game could do a lot better, especially if they just let Mike sculpt and farm the rules out to one of the teams they like to work with.

A man can hope at least. I had fun the few times I played the game. Lopsided game at times, but fun nonetheless...

Perhaps this will clear the way for CMON to release a new, better sci-fi miniature boardgame?

Oh no, I was really looking forward to owning some of these designs at a non-bonkers price:

Funny thing is some of the new minis even made it to tooling for production I know the Gnosis suits are done.

So perhaps they may show up some day in some form whether it's this game or another - CMoN still hold the rights to this game. (Note this is speculation on my part not something I have been told). It would be shame not to get them out there I have a set in resin and they are great minis and there are some great designs that have never been shown (The resins are priced on a very limited run basis there are only 50-100 of each mini in existence).

I still think it's insane that he threw away the most interesting thing about the setting. Instead of going with the Sixth Day approach, this should have been a setting where science proved the soul exists, and is capable of transferring your soul into a "blank" clone to cheat death.

You want a reason for Drones to be a downtrodden underclass? The technology doesn't work on Drones, which "obviously" means they don't have souls, which according to the zeitgeist means you can't enslave them any more than you'd enslave a toaster.

You want a reason for the Strain to be the stuff of horror stories? In a world of immortals, there are biomechanical horrors that corrupt as often as they kill, and you can't come back if the Strain gets into your black box.

Sad to see it go, but I can see why. Still, I think it would have been cool to keep it going as just a line of sci fi minis. They're all good sculpts. Maybe they could be redone in regular resin or metal for the smaller figs?

Before I forget can someone point me at the latest version of the rules / solo rules / campaign so I can grab them in the event they vanish along with the forums?

I hope CMON picks it up. I have wanted a Gnosis unit for a long time but the rent is too high on his boutique figures. We know CMON has picked up floundering titles before so hopefully that's how this plays out.
Another possibility would be Mark Moondragon from Dreamforge picking up those ranges to flesh out his setting and establish his actual game. Either way, the development is troubling but hopefully not the last we'll see of this range.

Pretty disappointed to hear this, a lot of us spent some serious time getting that game into shape (which, while not perfect, was still solid IMHO), but all that fallout from the 1.5 rules set and people not being used to PVC torpedoed it I guess.

And CMON presumably wouldn't "pick it up" since they were already partners.

I'm not sure what your logic is here.. If anything I would think it would provide inroads not some sort of barrier.

I think a rebranding would be the best course of action. Maybe a somewhat modified/ streamlined ruleset (like get rid of some of the obtuse terminology).

There definitely is a solid set of rules and lore already in place. Since McVey is very much still involved with CMON, I hope the two can work something out to everyone's benefit.

I took a read through the book again since it has been awhile. I think it rebranding would completely help, especially if they swap out terminology. It took me awhile to remember that vectors is LoS and a few other things which made it confusing or read like a technical manual, instead of a game with similar rules that other games have (give or take a few things).

I hate to say this, as I've been a fan of Mike's work for about 25 years, but it's about time. The forum was dead, the game is dead.

I liked the minis a lot.. well the material could have been better but sculpts were great. I had planned to build a high tech IG army with them, but ended up selling them later on. I saw the boxed game on amazon recently for like $20.

Kinda hoping they will still sell the minis in their online store, been wanting to get ahold of some of them, but never did, and my new toys budget is blown for this month already.

I'm in agreement that they could do something with it. I was just saying that I wouldn't call using something they have access to already "picking it up."

Ah, I gotcha. I had been under the impression that CMON was just handling distribution.. so (at least from my understanding) McVey owned the IP and all rights.. which would mean he would have to legally hand it all over to them for them to take the reigns and make it their own thing. Personally, I would want to see the assets re-purposed in the same way that they did Ron N Bones. I didn't back the KS but picked the Alabaster set up on Amazon for a song.. the rules and tiles were not really something I would want to deal with but the miniatures and concepts for the setting are cool enough that I would want to have a sleek game to fit those things in, even if it meant buying a new core set.

Sedition Wars was the early poster child for 'How to Screw Up a Successful Kickstarter 101' so its tottering aimlessly around the room for a while before finally expiring quietly behind the couch shouldn't really be taken as indicative of anything to do with the ongoing health of other Kickstarter projects.

I recommend picking up the terrain pack while they're still around to to anybody that hasn't, so many awesome useful bits in there. Objectives and doors and turrets and all kinds of fun stuff, that's what I'll be sad to see go. The game? Notsomuch. SO glad I got mine on superclearance and didn't buy into the original KS, and I suspect the main game be around for a while yet on secondary online stores

This was the first miniatures game I funded on Kickstarter (Ogre was the first board game). So very very excited for it.

It was also the first disappointment from Kickstarter. There were others, but man... such is fate.

Unfortunate and quite expected...

They should reboot it instead of putting it under the rug and pretend it is not there, the IP had potential and the space for non Gothic chi fi is relatively free.

I think McVey misunderstands the potential the IP has despite the damage he has managed to put on the IP.

I bought 5 sets through Miniaturemarket for the $18-27 range during sales and regular clearance and only had a couple of miscasts (the drone gun platform thing both times). Also bought someones pledge from on here to get the exclusives at a bargain, may have been Necro's . I never even read the rule book as everyone dissed that, and all the counters have been separated into baggies. The bases are great, I love the strain models and most of the peacekeeper models are awesome, I just dont like the sniper figure. I was planning on using the models for Warpath as humans and plague figures, but I guess that's still a long ways off. I hope Mike and CMoN can keep the style and I think switching to Boardgame plastic would work for this. Heck they could reskin Zombicide and do Zombicide: Strain Plague or something. The Zombies being controlled by the strain.

So if you want any information from it get it now as it won't be rehosted once the forum is switched off when it's gone it's gone.

I spoke to Mike 2 weeks ago about this and it was decided to close the forum due to the low usage levels it just doesn't justify the costs of keeping it open any longer. He has no plans to release any Sedition Wars stuff or any SMV limited resins in 2016. The SW follow up stuff is moth balled and is unlikely to see release (better to write off the cost now than put more money that may not see any return). Mike's just not interested in doing another game anymore.

SMV is working on the miniatures for at least 2 other games right now. Mike would rather just concentrate on making miniatures in future as this worked out much better for him with Blood Rage, The Others and Zombicide Black Plague.

Thanks for the excellent info, DaveC! I would love to see those Gnosis suits come to light, especially if they're already tooled! Seems like they could work quite well in Xenoshyft if both parties were willing?

Would you mind if I asked what your personal plans are going forward, since you seem to have had such close involvement with what could have been future releases here (all of which looked stellar, btw - McVey really can sculpt!!).

RiTides I've not had much involvement for awhile now other than keeping the forum ticking over I helped Nick with the solo rules and that's the last real input any of us have had.

The Arms of Sorrow rules were written they even made it to play testing but they were just an extension of the base BfA rules that a lot of people have no time for.It was set on a ship so there were rules for hull breaches and breaking through walls the Vanguard also had formation rules that gave them bonuses (they were written by the same writing team as the 2nd printing rulebook - who later parted ways with SMV) In the end there was little point in developing them further and work stopped. A reboot was a real possibility up until a few months ago but that's off the table for now Mike hasn't said it will never come back just that he has no interest in doing it now or in the near future so maybe some day?

Once the forum closes that's me done although I'm happy to help Mike out in future if needed. I enjoy the game it probably helps that I know it inside out, errata and all so I have no issues playing it, sure it still has it's flaws and issues but I get enjoyment from it I'm happy (maybe I'm just easily pleased ) A lot of people put a lot of work into getting it to where it is now so it's a pity it ended how it has but I understand that decision. Keep in mind I know far more about what happened here than most and I enjoy reading the theories people have some are closer than they know but there's a few key bits of info missing and what I know I was told in confidence or is covered by NDA so it's not my place to discuss it. There was mistakes on all sides some avoidable some not but that's water under the bridge and I think everyone learned a lot from the process.

Remy Tremblay really deserves the credit for the sculpting on the new stuff he now works full time for SMV and Mike had him do the bulk of the SW, Blood Rage and The Others minis he also did a good few ZcBP sculpts which Guillotine games commission SMV to do (he was supposed to work on earlier Zc sculpts but didn't have the time) I'd say he's busy working on the Chronicles of Hate now. Also credit to Remy for taking it on himself to translate all of the SW rules and scenarios into French.
