Well studio mcvey are now deleting comments regarding the fact coolmini chose to sell us an update in ravage than post one through kickstarter. Very classy mcvey, very classy.

I'm starting to suspect that things aren't all that kosher between McVey and CMON. It's like a couple on the verge of going through a divorce, where neither really seems to want to deal with the other, but they won't separate just to keep up appearances.

Makes me wonder what the future holds for the inevitable expansions.

I'll be keeping my eyes out for that terrain package. Should help spice up the game board, which hopefully won't decide to start warping on me again.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

It's a good thing Studio McVey is the inescapable behemoth of the tabletop gaming industry or their behavior might cost them enough sales to affect their massive bottom line. No matter how much they tick us off, they know we'll come crawling back to the only game in town. Just try heading down to the local FLGS and finding a game that isn't Studio McVey's IP.

The Aphid Suit on this model is pretty much an homage to the Work Loader in Aliens. It's a weaponized piece of construction/maintainence equipment.

Sedition Wars already has the "Gnosis Armor" which is essentially combat gear.

Homage status hasn't precluded hate on other models.

I know you're referencing the current RH thread, but it's a different breakdown of people in different threads. I'm not complaining about the RH model, nor about this one...

While you're at it, get all GW threads banned as well if you want to crack down on that kind of behaviour...

Fething in public is considered indecent exposure at best in many countries. Considering DakkaDakka.com is hosted in the US, it has to abide by US laws and therefore you may not feth in public or you'll be charged with indecent exposure. If you disagree with this and think two people should be free to feth in public, write to your representative.

Painting DVD update

Update #97 · Jun 18, 2013 · 1 comment

The footage for this is now being compressed from 18 gigs to something more manageable, and will be delivered in HD 720p on data DVDs in mp4 format. Most modern DVD players will be able to handle this format without issue (including consoles), or you will be able to view it on your computer either using the native players or via Videolan VLC Player (http://videolan.org), a freeware multi-format player.

While you'll get a physical disc containing the painting guide, for those of you who prefer it you'll also be contacted via email with links to download it. Do take note that it'll be fairly large, probably taking up about 4 gigabytes of harddisk space or more.

Hmmm...

Is it my imagination, or does this "production update" not actually include any information about when the shipment would actually be?

It primarily seems to exist to show pictures of the painted models. Not to say those aren't some amazing paint-jobs, they are, but the actual update seems to elude me here.

As for the miniatures themselves, they are certainly not bad, there is just... something I can't quite put my finger on...

Hmmm...

Here's a note from Mike from the Studio McVey forums (not sure why this wasn't repeated on the KS update):

Hi guys

Official update on production.

I'm still waiting to find out when the miniatures are going to ship from China.

I know that is not what you want to hear - and please believe me, that is not what I want to say. It's hard to get across just how difficult it is to see something on which you have worked so hard, disappointing and disenfranchising the people who have invested their hard earned money on. Delivering the second wave of rewards to backers is my number one priority - as it always has been, but the sad truth of the matter is it's largely out of my hands. Once I have handed off the masters and print files, it's up to the production company to deliver the goods. All I can do is rant, rage and beg to try and get straight answers and accurate information - both of which are in woefully short supply.

Here's what I can tell you:

We delivered all the masters for the sculpts at the start of the year.
I have approved all the resins of those masters (a vital pre-production step).
I have approved all plastic production samples of those masters - meaning all that was left to be done was to refine the mould lines and produce the required quantity.
The print files for cards were delivered on time.
I approved proofs of all print components.
Printing is complete.

What I am struggling to get information on, is if the plastic production run is complete, or still ongoing. It's a reasonably short part of the process - just a week or two, but I don't know if they are done or not.

As for other rewards:
The Quarantine campaign: This features quite a lot of the wave 2 characters - so there is no point sending that out until the miniatures and cards are in your hands.
The painting DVD: The footage is all done (it was a great deal more work than we anticipated), and Ali and I are very happy with the results. The shots are very clear, and will hopefully be useful. We plan to put out some clips pretty soon.
Solo play rules: Still under development. It will go out as a Beta release when it's ready. I hope that is pretty soon.

That's all I have for you. I'm going to request that an official update is sent out asap too, but we have been waiting on firm information before doing that. What I don't want to do is say X date, and then proved to be a liar (again).

It's unfortunate, but I've been slowly losing interest on this one for a while now. Usually when a KS update gets sent out for something that's been quiet a while, my excitement meter goes up a little, but I just thumbed through the pictures quickly, thought they look great and promptly moved onto my bowl of cereal.

Cancelled my Kaosball pledge a couple days ago, because I realized I'm just not that into CMoN anymore. Maybe when Zombicide Season 2 delivers, the spark will return.

Pretty cool stuff. Even the minis I wasn't that sold on as unpainted sculpts have turned out well... though the crabs turned out way bigger than I was expecting

Foda- IIRC, from the above, minis that aren't limited and are going to be released as individual kits at some theoretical future date:

crabs
utility suit

Interesting (original here); it seems that it was C'MoN that elected to not include this more... distressed version of events in their official update.

Posting pictures and updates is all well and good, but it is obviously just a hollow sham to conceal the real problem here: the novel. When's the novel coming out, Mike? Can't say? Better show us some more model pictures, then. You can pretend we are just going to forget that you promised us a novel, but it won't happen, Mike.

His silence on the issue of the Sedition Wars tie in novel is deafening.

Honestly, I love the crap out of the SedWars minis I've cleaned and assembled. They are great for pew-pews and yeaaaaaargs. By the time my son is old enough to play the game, the rules will probably be two or three generations beyond where they are now, and quite fun. Or I'll just use the minis for Deadzone or something.
All in all, I'm glad we finally got an update, even if it is "the inscrutable Easterners are holding my models ransom."

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Have to be honest, I'm not the greatest fan of the boardgame. Think it would have worked much better as a 'player vs. CPU' style set-up, rather than player vs player (with multiple players taking control of the squad, like the Doom boardgame perhaps - think that would have worked well now with all of these characters coming out!)

That being said, think these models look stonking! really like the Cyber Damage Akosha (makes me think of the Aeon Flux cartoon), the biohazard guy, one in the loader.. actually don't think there is a sculpt that I dislike amongst them! Think people will easily be able to find a use for these in Infinity, or just great painting and display pieces.

Because that's obviously a tool, vs a combat suit designed by someone with a death wish. If it had integrated missile targeting systems, but no one bothered to throw some metal plates in front of the squishy driver, it would be just as stupid as the RH one.

Hate to ask questions that may have already been answered, but how many of these figures will be available separately at retail? Some of this could be usable outside of the main game. Along the same lines, wasn't it mentioned that the exclusives will be available at conventions? Really bummed that I missed out on the Dead Space lookalike.

All of them the problem overall is CMON as we have already seen chinks in their KS business plan. Heck the reason the Relic Knights was delayed for so long was because of CMON's pushing other items ahead in the production line.

Overall these are gorgeous minis but this is not what Mike initially promised when he said he was coming out with a game. He said it would be more of a full out table skirmish game then the whole board game style. In the end I am sure I will buy a few just to paint but it's sad as I would love to play these on a table scale not board game.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!
