That was pretty useful.
I would have just put glue and sprinkled stuff on the object, but the paste approach looks better.

Wash your egg shells and then microwave them for 60-90 seconds.
Try not to eat them.

I've been using this method since I saw it posted here to great effect.
Taking it a step further, I have a small sealed tub of the stuff premixed to use as needed. If it starts to dry out a bit and get too pasty, just add more glue or paint to moisten the mix.

Wow that is so easy....I'm going to have to do that. Lately I've been using coffee grinds as a basing material so I'll probably put that in aswell but looks awesome...I'm off to base 400 models now!!
Just a quick question does it stay on bases pretty well without any added glue? Seems fairly light on the glue (and I have trouble with basing material falling off lol ) Automatically Appended Next Post: Well I just tried this and added a bit of white to make a dark grey.
One thing is it is extremely difficult to get it to stick to the bases. Based a large screaming bell base and a warp lightning base.
I'll update with the results when it dries and I can Drybrush it

You need to use more glue.

I like it, you use a lot more ingredients that I would (I find the things like egg shells curious). The texture result is really good.

So I kept a premade tub of this stuff, but when I went to use it yesterday I discovered it was all moldy, and ideas why? I had Cork tiles, Foamcore, Polystyrene, Sand, and fish gravel in it. Along with Acrylic Paint and PVA glue

Was the fish gravel previously used ?
There is no cork in my mix, and I've had the current tub made at least a month. I do tend to pull from it and add back to a couple times a week. Been using all the metal, stryene, and pencil shavings from my regular modeling, with black craft sand and PVA glue. I only add acrylic paint rarely, as there isn't much need since I'm already using black sand.
