These guys were originally going to be Dark Angels successors but I'm now leaning towards Raven Guard as i really like their fluff, Shrike and Korvydae especially. The chapter tactics i use vary depending on my list but i mainly play Raven Guard (for jump pack buffs), White Scars (for bike buffs) and Imperial Fists (for bolter buffs)
I've developed a simple colour scheme with a couple of spot colours to tie units together. I've also used colours as designation so that my marines can be multi purpose, eg: all Devastators have a yellow knee pad and devastator sgts have a yellow shoulder pad, special weapons have blue, Fast Attack have green helmets, vets have light grey and captains have red. this makes certain models stand out but the army still has a cohesive feel to it. I've also painted some Sternguard similar to Vetsgts so that they can stand in as Bolter sgts for tactical squads when i decide to use Imperial Fists tactics.

FLUFF.
Originating, along with my Imperial Guard, from the Cordaen System the Fellwing Chapter prefer lightning assaults, favouring jump packs and bikes and tactical squads mounted in rhinos. The chapter has suffered a recent split which saw nearly a third of its number converted to chaos (which is where my CSM come in). this means i can switch between loyalist and heretics without worrying about changing models. I've modelled my CSM to look like they've only recently turned so things like a lot of regular marine heads and mostly regular marine backpacks, bolters etc. this gives them quite a raw stripped down chaos look, i think some of the chaos models a bit too gothic and baroque for my taste.
this means my Fellwing have some repentance to achieve and some revenging to do, meaning they throw themselves into the fray, seeking the Emperor's forgiveness with every kill.
My opponents are Undivided/Khorne CSM and Necrons and I'm currently writing a campaign for all 3 armies to take part in, dealing with the invasion of the Cordaen System from within by Chaos cults Necron tomb awakenings etc. hoping to do Zone Mortalis openers, plus we like the idea of Necromunda style games to do with Chaos cults in the underhives with reults from those 'mini-games' having conseqeunces for the main campaign story arc, such as sabotage, new recruits, demon summoning etc.
The possibilities are endless which is why I'm trying to get some thoughts out of my head and into the collective Dakka head.
Any thoughts, ideas, feedback, campaign help etc would be most welcome.
Here are a few pictures of my army so far. Im aiming to get it all to tabletop standard then go back and touch up details later. (I'm sick of gaming with unpainted stuff )

What are those scouts with IG heads? Just scouts with IG heads, or any IG troops?
And I don't understand your idea quite fully, do you intend to make one army of SM, CSM and IG, or just SM and IG, with the recently turned cultists or marines still using the loyalist rules? Or just lets say make an IG section, and use them as cultists when playing your csm army, saying they recently turned so you don't have to use other models?

Scouts just have IG heads purely for aesthetic reasons (i hate the stock scout heads)
My intention was really to link my whole collection together with fluff. So instead of saying, "ok here's my Space Marines, here's my Chaos and here's my Guard" I have a multi purpose collection. saves money too.
I havea very large Space Marines and Imperial Guard army (about 11k last time i added it up!) whereas i only have 2 Chaos tacticals (1 CC, 1 ranged) and a termie squad with Termie Lord. if i wanted to expand this small force for a larger game i can use Marines from my loyalist army (and say they've only just turned), or use some IG as Traitor Guard and Renegades and heretics. I hadn't actually thought of using them for cultists but that's not such a bad idea, thanks.
Recently turned Marines would probably use Chaos rules but now you mention it they may still retain some of their previous doctrines so i could use Chapter tactics if my opponents agreed. we only play casual at the mo so i don't think it would matter too much.

Well now see this is where unbound isn't so.... disgusting. When there's a purpose & it makes sense AND (big and) you're not using it to bring the best of every dex.

Unbound never crossed my mind funnily enough but it has now. I think if it's going to be used it should have at least a little bit of fluff to back it up. I just like the idea of a recent split (cos there's not that much in recent fluff (correct me if im wrong!)) and the loyalists fighting for repentance and revenge, a bit like the Dark Angels.
The idea i had, which tie in my WIP campaign nicely, would be that the traitors haven't left the Cordaen system yet or they're raising cults on other worlds etc.
just started my campaign blog, more to follow... http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/622510.page#7341878

as soon as I saw the new skitarii models my mind went into overdrive. I've always loved the idea of a combined imperial army from both a fluffy and an aesthetic point of view. I guess my imperial army started with imperial guard then expanded to space marines when dark vengeance came out with the allies matrix. Now I want to expand again to try and include all facets of imperial military. This will tie in with my campaign and it's accompanying background. So eventually my army should include the following:

Imperial guard - Cordaen Guard
Fellwing Space Marines (raven guard tactics)
Blood Wolves Space Marines (Space Wolves)
Skitarii which will originate from Phaemis Forgeworld, 1st planet in the Cordaen system
Sisters of battle (fingers crossed!)
Forces of the Inquisition
And a Knight at some point, obviously

Don't think I've missed any.
We also hope to include a necromunda style campaign to run alongside the main campaign so gangs of guardsmen on captured planets that sort of thing
once I've finished my fantasy chaos army them the imperial guard are next
Watch this space!
