Hey everyone! I've been into 40k for a little over 10 years now, but I've only been collecting Imperial Guard since last winter. I've been a Space Marine player all this time and I've drifted in and out of the hobby, but lately I've been pretty hooked on it again, and I decided it would be fun to start something new. So I figured what better army to compliment some Marines than the Imperial Guard? My collection has been slowly growing over the year, starting out with the ( not very ) old battleforce kit, and then little bits here and there. So far I've racked up a platoons worth of Guardsmen ( including a couple heavy weapons squads and a special weapons squad ) as well as various other groups and models, such as a CCS, some veterans, and a sentinel. I started painting some of these guys about a year ago, and I wasn't too excited about the results. So recently, after sitting on the shelf for several months and literally collecting dust, I decided to take them down, strip them off, and have another go at it.
I don't have a whole lot else to say right now, so here's some pictures of my first finished model: The Chimera
Using the Autocannon from a Hydra kit, I worked it onto the model as well as some other bits from a 1/35 scale tank kit to give it some extra stowage and character. I mostly followed GW's own tutorials on painting Cadian camo as well as weathering vehicles to accomplish most of what was done here. Honestly I'm pretty happy with the results. I owe a lot of credit to the tutorials GW put out. They helped me learn a lot of useful tips and tricks.
I have another Chimera that's fairly identical to this one, using the same Autocannon turret and stowage kit. Right now it's only barely been primed and is waiting to be painted, that goes for just about my entire army really. I do have a squad of 10 guardsmen that are nearly done, so be sure to check back for those later, and let me know what you think!

Thanks everyone! I was a bit unsure about whether or not I wanted to do the camo, but now that I see it in person I'm really glad I did. It adds a lot of personality to the tank.
I do feel that I went a tiny bit overboard with the weathering though, so I may touch up some spots.

I think it was a bit of a medium to medium heavy amount of weather. I think it looks good, but then again I play krieg so I use a lot of weathering.

Hey guys, sorry about the lack of updates. I'm working on an Ultramarines army on the side, or I should say side-by-side. Both armies are about the same size in terms of models so I sort of alternate with painting both of them.
I haven't quite finished the first Infantry squad yet, but here's a little teaser:
The pic is a bit blurry since I wasn't able to set up a proper picture taking area, so I apologize for that. The whole squad is almost done, needing some highlights and detailing still, as well as decals - but for now here's these two guys. Hope you like them! Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh yeah I should talk a little bit about the lasguns. I modified them from regular lasguns, cutting the barrels down as well as the " sights " ( I don't know what those are exactly ) and then rebuilding them with green stuff. Kinda hard to tell from these pic, but each lasgun in my army has been or will be modified like this. It's supposed to be a sort of close range lascarbine for city fighting, with a slightly higher rate of fire and increased spread, but shorter range. Just did this for fun and fluff reasons.

Okay long time no update again. I've been busy with the holidays, shopping, spending time with the family and all that jazz, but now that has passed over for the most part.
Like most wargamers, I received some new loot for Christmas. Among these new items I have got a Leman Russ, a Hellhound, a squad of Bullgryns, a Ministorum Priest, and some Wyrdvane Psykers ( who I will use as regular psykers most likely. )
I've been pretty bad about updating this thread, and also generally just slacking off on my army. So I'm going to try and change that and post more WIP shots. I know this isn't much, but bear with me:
Up first is that Infantry squad I've been talking about. Again, they aren't quite finished ( I've still got some highlighting, detailing and transfers to do. ) But they're all up to a fairly good standard I'd say.
Along with this, I also have an Artemia Pattern Hellhound from Forgeworld:
There's not a whole lot to say about this one other than I just really like the model and I'm very thankful for receiving it for Christmas. I've got some work to do on it as well, mostly a bit of green stuff-ing to fix up some weird spots on the resin. I may or may not add stowage to this tank, probably not though because I don't really see a rolling flamethrower carrying around a bunch of important cargo with it.
Currently I am painting my Leman Russ and I will be getting some pics of it up as I go along, so expect that very soon.
I've been a bit obsessed with building and painting tanks lately, so my Infantry aren't getting as much love unfortunately!

Going to start adding the camo pattern now.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Camouflage pattern has been added, along with painting the stowage and also generally neatening some stuff up. Could still use a bit more tidying, so I'll do that and then start washing the armor.

I've shaded and highlighted the armor. Things are starting to get a little bit messy so bear with me here till I can get it weathered up.
Up next is the metallic bits.

Hey guys, just thought I'd pop in and say that I've been putting the finishing touches on my first vet/shock troop squad, so expect some pics soon-ish. I also wanted to say that I nabbed some sweet deals off of eBay recently, and I'm excited to share them once they arrive!

Thank bebop!
On a side note, I've been thinking about converting all my standard Lasgun carrying Guardsmen to having actual Autoguns. I like Lasguns and Multilasers and all forms of Las-weaponry really, but I've always kind of wanted to have an entire Imperial Guard regiment that almost exclusively uses ballistics based weaponry. I realize that from a fluff standpoint Lasguns are the superior alternative, with their easy maintenance, manufacturing, and rechargeable magazines - but I've always liked the idea of some Guardsmen stuck with having to use a cheaper alternative and having to lug around loads of ammo. ( Btw I am not a gun nut/expert in any way shape or form, so sorry if I'm using all the wrong terms here, this is just what info I've gathered from 40K wikis. In a nutshell I basically mean to say I would like to restrict my models from using Las-weaponry, with the occasional exception for a Lascannon. )
From a modelling standpoint, I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I have about 30 Infantrymen at the moment, with about 20 of them wielding Lasguns, and the rest have special weapons or something else in their hands so they would be no problem.
But to make this possible I would have to do some slicing and dicing on already built ( and for some, unfortunately, already painted ) models. I don't mind this a whole lot, I've done it before in the past and it usually turns out looking pretty good and unnoticeable. It's something I really want to attempt though. Lasguns are cool, but I've never really seen a full army armed with Autoguns, and I just think the weapons themselves look pretty sweet too.
I've gone ahead and ordered 30 of these from Anvil Industries:
And with these, I hope to attempt to mimic the look of the Armageddon pattern Autogun:
So with a little bit of cutting and remodelling, I hope to achieve something like this:
( Excuse the crappy Paint mockup )
It's going to be tricky, but I think I can pull it off. The main thing that bothers me is that I'm going to have to do some reworking on my already mostly finished squad, but I think in the long run it'll be worth it.

Got these guys off of eBay a few days back and they just arrived. 24 of them and in great condition, with 2 types of each special weapon. Can't wait to paint and play with them!
