Wishing I was back at the South Atlantic, closer to ice than the sun

Okay, so I started a club down here and in the process was handed a 'ahem' few figures to help it get started.

White Scars

Dark Angels

Space Wolves

Black Templars

Astra Mil

Chaos Cultists & Thousand Sons

CSM

And last but not least Sisters

Not shown are an additional 2 Rhinos and 3 FW Basilisks old metal Tallarn with El Rakim(Sp?) plus 4 heavy weapon emplacements, and a sandbag command bunker.

I don't recognise a lot of these figures, so if you have any helpful comments or pointers please point them out to me.

The down side. for some reason almost all of them have no backpacks. So since this is the season to be generous, if anyone has any space Space Marine backpacks/jumpacks that they have no use for.....

Cheers

Andrew

You can get SM backpacks from any bits store on Ebay. They are fairly cheap.

Unfortunately not in the numbers I need. There were even more parts still in the boxes behind.

Cheers

Paradigm, I'm scared to even think about how many points there are there. We're working out to 1150 pt groups from each type and then seeing what's left. The big problem is that we don't have most of the codexes required. Hopefully over Xmas we can sit down and work out what's actually there. One of the things we are considering is swapping off parts for items that are useful to us. Eg the Thousand Sons, there are approx 30 figures there, less backpacks. Nice figures but how valid an army is that for play. So we may consider swapping that for a codex or two.

As for painting, we don't know where to start.

the good news is, you will have plenty of money throughout your life because you will never need to buy any more games workshop minis ever. the bad news is you will probably painting them until you die of old age

Wow, did you break in to the local GW store and swipe all the goodies they don't keep on the shelves?

Good luck getting all the bits you need and painting it all up!

Yep. Just handed over to me. And I'm trying not to be ungrateful for it, but I keep seeing parts that are missing. For example there's a FW bag for Inquisitor Lok, but I couldn't find the figure. There's a first edition Logan with the wolves in there. It was all going into the bin. The lads clearing it out removed the stuff they thought was obviously wargames for me and ditched the rest. I was on holiday and they cleared the container before I got back. Seeing what I got I'm gutted I was away.

I've already spent about £100 of my own money buying X-Wing to exchange for the Tau part of the cache. I've now got one of every ethereal produced in pewter.

Dude nice.

There is always the option of selling or trading a small lot to get the missing back packs.

Otherwise you really are SOL

So started to put some points to the collection and try to bag up viable units.

Using the basic SM codex there is app 6,500 pts in vanilla marines and 3,500 in CSM (and still bagging)

A quick request though, we're waiting on the BT and SW codex arriving, but in order to bag units could I ask those who know to provide me with unit details. Now, I'm not asking for point values as that's against rules, but basic composition, eg 5 to 10 models, 2 special weapons, X number of lighting claws etc. It will at least allow me to bag up the right components.

Thanks

Andrew

PS Snrub the club's in the Falklands. It might take you a while to get there if you ever fancy a visit.

I'll post some more wip photos when I get a chance.

Ah... Falklands eh? Yeah, bit out of my range. I glanced at the flag and assumed it was Australia.

Should pay more attention to what I'm looking at.
I figured if you were anywhere near my neighbourhood I'd come down and offer you a hand. Not likely now though!

Do you plan on keeping all the figures for use in the club or are you going to sell bits and pieces off?

Snrub, I hope that we can keep all the figures, but we're blocking out 1,150 pt armies from each and then we'll consider selling off other stuff. But at the moment we're keeping them. Had a blond moment and seem to have lost all the arms for the Dark Angels stuff. Hoping that they will turn up, but I think they're gone.

If you can hitch a lift for the next sheep shearing season, pop over with the other Aussies, I'm sure we can fit in a game or too. And still have many, many figures available to paint.

Johnny, I don't want to sell them, the bragging rights are too good.
