It's not really snap-fit so much as push/tension fit. So far as I can tell. Others with their sets can better clarify.

So far the only plastic are the clips. Everything else is card. Before this they did paper terrain you could print out yourself.

Yeah by snap fit I meant the clips.

Was just wondering. I saw their Stargate themed SciFi / Fantasy board set up on Beasts of War (IIRC) and thought it was actual plastic terrain. The detail is that good. Pretty damn good for printed card.

Yeah. The card looks suitably thick and the surface is supposed to be at least a little water resistant. If you pen the edges of the terrain to color match the printed sides, then brush glue onto the components that are most used, it should hold up for a good long time and look great. The glue doesn't hold anything, it's just for the edges of parts that tend to get swapped or changed, hardens it up so it doesn't fray at the edges. There's a video.

pva glue?

Superglue, the brush on kind. It soaks in and hardens it to the point that it may as well be plastic. Just for certain corners/joins that get changed a lot. Some of the tables and stasis chambers have multiple skins you can flip it over like battle damage or whatever, and switching the parts a bunch might lead to eventual fraying.

So the order is, pen then glue? They have a lot of tutorial videos but I really just want the basics! I feel like they posted up a 7 or 8 minute "basics" one at some point, but I've misplaced it now.

Glad someone in the US received theirs, hoping mine shows up this week!

Yes - ALWAYS edge with the marker before gluing. Cardstock terrain 101. Otherwise you'll be trying to edge over the glue ... and that doesn't work so well.

Glad to see people are getting theres. Bummed I didn't before the Fantasy project ended. I really wish Wayland had their gak together.

Update #79

The first Parcels arrive for the USA...

Hi to all,

The first confirmed parcels have arrived today in the US with one of our backers letting us know in the comments section. We suspect that some parcels arrived yesterday and some more today for sure, but only a very small percentage of backers actually track the comments regularly especially this far after the KS has ended and even less comment, so we would not have heard. The first we heard was with the comment made by Michael Derrig

Here is what he had to say…

I will say the pictures do not do it justice. The print really does pop, I went through the sheets about 10 times before I started to punch them out... and that was just for the add-on sheets. I haven't touched the boxes yet. I figured I would practice a little with some of the add-ons to get the hang of it, and then move on to the bigger projects. I will definitely be re-watching the videos again to get some more tips on assembly, as it does take a little finesse (especially with the smaller pieces, I smooshed some of the cardboard joints). Like many have said, it just takes a some getting used too, and then it becomes 2nd nature. I am very happy with the quality, and I am glad I backed the fantasy. It will be really awesome to match up the two sets (via a star gate) Guess I will be heading out to a few stores this afternoon, to look for storage solutions

Hopefully the rest is coming soon, if not already. If you have received your set by all means come and share the good news with us )

So with sets arriving (and arrived) we leave you with a reminder of what's to come and the best way to approach your first builds.

Over & Out for now (we will continue to update here as needed)

Oh yeah the little dolphin. I wondered about that.

The stuff was compact and really damn heavy hahaha. Each stronghold (smaller than a land raider box I think) was 4kg inc stretch freebies iirc plus a couple addons on top at 2kg I guess because reasons ; p I wanted a solid tabletop skirmish and RPG setup. I'm pretty sure I got that ; p The 2 fantasy dungeons if added to it for a sci-fi plus catacombs dealio would give an 8x4 multi-layer terrain playfield of orgasmic proportions. Then there's the 12ish Deadzone battlezones which should make a 6x4 iirc to replicate outdoors terrain and... no I didn't go over the top stop looking at me like that! Grim, come paint my Deadzone terrain ; p (/jk, airbrush will save me there thankfully) As a new entrant (2011... still new to me ; p) I needed a terrain solution and these two worked perfectly so I went in big. My main problem is organization now, a good storage system for th large variety of stuff I now have -_-

I really saw immense potential in battle systems terrain, even more than in the DZ Battlezones because of the inherrent 3d nature plus doodads, all pre painted to give a highly immersive tabletop experience. It was worth supporting and it's damn well going to make some excellent gaming I think ; )

That said I've established one little nook as a backdrop to take pics of a couple space marines.... action is NOT my middle name ; p

Now that's all very well and good Yo.

But the real question. Since you live all the way over in Perth (wasteland that it is) do you have anyone who you can use this terrain with?

Hahah yeah we actually have a pretty good scene here surprisingly. WestGamer is a pretty damn active forum that helps organise us and our multiple clubs, tournaments and what not. Really easy to find good people to play games with in homes, clubs, stores. Being so far from everyone we need organisation like this ; p

Also screw others, I have solo decks so I can play with myself anyway! I love playing with myself so it's all good. *shifty look*

Yeah I really need to get back onto WargamerAU and find a Melbourne club. The one GW store that I did go into on the odd occasion has closed down and I don't know where it's moved to.

Finally - joy in Texas. They arrived!

I've been playing around with some random walls, getting the feel for assembly. They're definitely a bit fiddlier than Terraclips, but I really like them so far. And man - there is a lot in just a Hulk, Stronghold and add-ons. I can't imagine what an 8x would look like.

Finally got my 4x Stronghold, 2 Bunkers, Docking Bays and a lot of other misc pieces. It was definitely heavy. Pens also arrived at the same time oddly. Brush glue arrives tomorrow.

Started to take the pieces out, sort them out into groups. Starting with one pile, trimming little pieces off so they slide together properly. Then I'll start penning them. And finally glue the edges before the final assembly.

Just need to get some more storage bins. Still have to finish routing part of the guides for my new gaming table I am making. Soooo much to do and too little time. I need work weeks to be only 4 day weeks now. ^_^

Hi, guys, the vast majority of our backers have now received their sets. If you haven't received your order, particularly if you are outside of the USA, please email us at info@battlesystems.co.uk with the following details:

Your full name
Your shipping address
The email address you used when you backed the KS
Your customer number supplied by Wayland Games.

These details will help us greatly. If you've already emailed us there's no need to email again as your details are already being processed. Also, some backers in the USA will receive their goods this week.

We're sorry for the delay and will do everything we can to get your goodies to you. You can also contact Wayland Games directly at the email address they provide, this may speed the process up a little bit.

Cheers

Wayne and Colin.
