The difference the bit of extra detail on a skeletal horse makes is unreal. They look so much more full of character now.

I've just noticed that his coin-purses look kinda dodgy. I wonder if that's were he keeps the family jewels. Nudge nudge.

Went ahead and purchased more skeletal horses, Vallejo metallics and some vallejo metallic medium, so I'm not always doing NMM, it can get tiresome after a while.

Ah, perhaps I should have said 'bare' skeleton horses- the sort that you can do up in whatever scheme you want (like ancient egyptian, mongol, plowhorse, etc. etc.). There's plenty of skeleton European Warhorses out there.

Will be interesting to see you do a Dread'.

Good question! I used to do SMs white and green with a red stripe but I might just paint this one a vanilla chapter colour. Painting white marines is a drag.

Old plastic beastmen. Can anyone remember if these chaps are supposed to have shields?

I never saw them with shields. But that arm position-- with an early version of rage-fist -- makes me think that they could have them if you wanted to add them on. Units could not use shields with Halberds in 4th ed WHFB, which is what I was playing when I first saw those (1997?). I would not worry about getting them shields.

That bright Wizard had a mounted version too. All the Empire wizards did at one point. Purple is the perfect color for wizards Looks very good.

I just had a quick look over at Stuff of Legends, and there are pics in different catalogs both with and without shields.

Cool I'll go with no shields as I might play 4th ed rules with them one day and anyway I need the shields for other things.

If I recall correctly they were originally for Talisman, but got repurposed (like a lot of Talisman plastics) for single pose Warhammer regiments. So when originally released for Talisman they did not have shields, but when released for Warhammer they did.

Cool - I thought I remembered him from somewhere board-gamey.

Here is a prototype. I might do them all with different coloured skin and hair - sort of a 'mixed herd' look. But I'm pleased with this one - this marks a reintroduction to metallic paint for me.

Well I had a fun day thinking up varieties of beastman. We've had the blond sunburned one already.

Oh, maybe that is why Beastmen are so angry and hate humans, because Ole Farmer Giles taught them how to play Rock, Rock, Rock as a joke on the poor beasties.

Yes - I still have an urge to give them shields to cover up the mass fist shake.

Aw, I like them the way they are. They have such beautiful tones and look great together. Shields might break up that effect. Shields would also break up a great game of Rock, Rock, Rock.
