So I have an issue and hoping that it may be addressed by our Overlords on Dakka Dakka...

I regularly post in the Painting & Modelling forums - mainly in the 'P&M Blogs' section and as such it's generally all work in progress posts, where I may make several updates through the day - the problem is that multiple posts with a short time frame fall foul of the auto append rule that appears to be in place on Dakka. I believe that it's set at 12 hours?

Now, I do understand why this function is in place, but for the WIP type posts it's very irritating as an auto-append means that my thread will not be bumped to the top of list or show up in with a new post 'bullet' symbol and therefore readers for my post may well miss the update and I could miss valuable critique from them...

I'm also aware of other regular posters on the P&M blogs who get frustrated by the auto-appends and several of us end up simply 'bumping' posts with meaningless messages to avoid the auto-append... In fact one such user has even mentioned leaving the Great Halls of Dakka and post his WIPs on other Forums (are there such things out there??) - This must not be allowed to happen

So... my question, nay, my plea, is - - - Can the Auto Append function be removed from the P&M Blogs?

If you're making several posts over the course of the same day, is it really such a big deal if it doesn't get bumped back to the top each time?


If you really want each new post to be a separate post, though, you can attach your pics to the post instead of linking them from the gallery. In the P&M Blog section, attached pictures are automatically added to the gallery anyway (they go into a folder with the thread title as the folder name, but you can move them into a different folder if you want), and any post with attachments skips the auto-append.

Cheers for the reply Insaniak, but excuse my ignorance, how do I attach the pictures? I always upload and link them direct by copying the url from the gallery pages. Is this upload function quicker?

I'll give this a twirl and see how it works out... I do like for any updates I post on my P&M threads to be noticeable so a workaround to skip the auto-append is favourable. I'll also let those other users know about this...
