Not bad, but you really need to highlight the black. The model just looks really flat right now. Also, fire should be hottest at the base and coolest at the tips. Build from the bottom up, going white-yellow-orange-red-black.

Haha....now that I think about it you are 100% correct
Im such an idiot

Although just been reading about this and its not always the case.
Fire burns hotter where it consumes the most oxygen....which is not always at the base.
With this being supernatural fire there is no fuel and therefore I reckon that most o2 would burn closer to the tips.
Thanks for the advice though mate....and I know what you mean about the model being flat. I will highlight the black on the actual models. This is just a test case for the fire...this guy wont see battle

Speaking as a firefighter if it burned hottest at the fingers of the flame it would likely choke itself out. If you want ethereal flames why not go with a white/blue flame overall?

I appreciate what youre saying mate but I think going opposite makes it stand out a bit more.
The blue white fire makes sense but doesnt fit in with the Legion theme

Also the fact that it can happen makes it sort of believable

just because something can happen in reality doesnt mean if will look good when done in miniature model form. thats something to think about. people might thing you're just bad at painting flames.

I think the flames look good I'd just add in some more orange and yellow highlights to give the flames more depth. Highlight the black and maybe paint the Imperial eagle in a bone color and I think you've got a solid Legion of the Damned model. If it helps here's how I ended up painting my flames for my Imperial Knight:

I think there are many ways to paint flames so you'll have to find something you're happy with and go from there. Different people will like different styles. I'd love to see the blue/white flames but if you're set on the Legion theme stick with the regular flames.
