I have a lot of spare sprue accumulated over the years.
I've been using it to make makeshift fortification counters to represent "gone to ground" in 40k, or any other equivalent "entrenched/suppressed" status in other games (see attached image).
What do you use your sprue for?

Close to your idea. I made this trench wall out of sprue. The wall is the square sections and the "posts" are some round stuff I had from another model (non GW) kit. The wodden ends on the barbed wire rolls are sprue as well. The ladder on the bunker in the background is sprue too, but you can hardly see it in this photo.

Is 'Eavy Metal Calling?

It makes nice pipes or kerbs for basing:
Also useful for building scaffolds for scratch built stuff, piping on terrain.
Might steal your suppression token idea!

Did someone mention sprue? I definitely heard "sprue"...
What do I use sprue for? Everything I can.
A hut:
Everything between the mud on the base (dried paint on a CD) and the metal plates of the roof (card) is made of sprue. That includes all the "wood", the plants/flowers, a ladder and it's hook, the table, the bench, and the bottles on the table.
The tutorial for the whole build is here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/545398.page#5935106
I've also carved hands, swords and many other small pieces out of sprue:
For larger things, you can glue pieces of sprue together with poly' cement.
You can also use pieces stuck together to quickly bulk out a shape before covering in GS (or equivalent putty).
I did this for the nose on my Wave Serpent:
You can use wedges of sprue for re-posing models. Glue in with cement and then cut/sand down. Saves on putty and creates a stronger join:
Two pieces, stuck back to back and a third round piece of sprue were used for the mines on this model's base:
And the support structure for the dozer blade on this tank is largely sprue:
The electrical boxes on the Tryanid's back, the back of the Ork's chair, The computer monitor the 'nid is looking at, the details on the ceiling and front, and many other small parts etc, are all sprue here...
It's my "go to" material of choice when modelling.

Posting from my phone, so can't post the images myself, but just do a Google image search for Spruecrons or Sprue Necrons.
Personally, I use mine to make rubble on terrain.

Love that hut Dr. H! Inspiring work!
My friend bought an old meat grinder and uses it for rubble, its a fairly common usage and the results are nice.

I cut the sprue into long strips, glue infantry to them using just a tiny amount of super glue and use it as something to hold when I'm priming and/or spaying them with an airbrush.

O man good idea making those walls... I also have a ton of sprue laying around... I have also seen people cutting them down... sharpening the tips... and gluing onto bases to make it look like crystals. It looks really cool especially for Necron bases.

I made the skeleton of a Brass Scorpion out of sprue that I was going to cover with paper mache at one point, never got around to it and I don't play the army anymore.

Thanks.
Same thing I used for everything else, my trusty scalpel.
Some sandpaper was also involved.

Cool stuff in this thread. Leftover sprues are so underrated. I've used sprue as bracing/re-enforcement for vehicles, especially conversions. They always get covered up, of course. Used sticks of it to mix paints, show friends painting techniques, test colors out, etc.
