So when I used a Puppets War Big Momma cannon to make a Space Marine Vindicator lots of obvious comments were made about the size of the cannon. Comments were also made about how many shells it could carry. That discussion and pictures can be found here.

So my idea then was to create a razorback proxy that would be a artillery support vehicle. These are armored ammo carriers that follow self propelled artillery and feed them ammunition while they conduct their fire missions. They look like this.

Well with the new Space Marine codex out now I don't really want to spend two months converting a rhino hull with lots of amateur plasticard work. So I have gone with a much simpler path. See pictures below.

So what I couldn't decide on to either glue the top hatch doors open so you can look in from the top or to create vertical doors for the rear and have those glued open. But becuase the access hatch for the BMC is on top of the tank (rear hatch covered by vents) I am going to have the top hatches open. Also it makes more sense because the crane can bend down into the top of the rhino but can't reach down and around into the back of the rhino compartment.

So I imagine loading would looks something like this:

To make it a Razorback I plan to mount a heavy bolter over one of the crew hatches. I will be using one of these: http://bitspudlo.com/products/heavy-cannon-platform

What do you think?

Looks really cool. The crane's position makes sense to me, but I don't get the idea of making it a vindicator/razorback hybrid. Or am I misunderstanding what you intend?

Rules wise it will be a razorback. Visually it will be a vindicator ammo supply vehicle.

Being a razorback makes since for rules because I have obviously taken up a lot of troop space with those giant rounds. And giving it heavy bolters allows it to protect itself and the vindicator from any stray enemy troops.

Well painting has begun. Unfortunately I won't be getting anything else done for the rest of this week. But felt good to lay down some primer and the base coat for the yellow bits.
