Thought I would post an update to prove I've done something over the past few weeks. Still need to do the greenstuff work, and then I should be ready to paint. I'm cutting it close but I should have it finished by the deadline.

LOL... lookin' great, Cadaver! Again, I'm liking how seamlessly your conversion is coming together. Unless you're "cheating" on the angles, I have the strangest feeling that your model will require little to no GS work (for repair's sake). Looking forward to the end-product... especially since it's nearly all skin!

As for myself, I'll be out tomorrow, but Monday should have most, if not the entire piece finished! (fingers and toes crossed)

Vitruvian XVII - Nice base man! does not cover how cool that base is. Really looking forward to seeing a model on it. Have you bought the sorcerer yet

Cadaver - Still looking cool.

I finished painting my navigator.....then this morning I decided to redo his hood. I think I'm regretting that decision now .

I also fail to see where that could possibly need gs Cadaver. From the pics it looks flawless.

@Peter + neil: Cheers guys! Im happy with the base as well. And yes, Peter, i do have the sorceress, but lets not discuss the fact that she's still on the sprue!

Part of the reason i've been going so slowly is because i haven't actually got my own space atm. But we just finished building a shed to be my room, so as of tomorrow i have free reign with my 40k bits!

Progress...

Unsure about the whole colour scheme at the moment, but I should stick to the plan.
Paint the weapons and do the scrolls with the lettering. That should put her on the right path.

Hair colour?! Red, yellow white, blue white, black!?

Sketch says black...

That is so characterfull, amazing conversion.

I think blue-white hair will look the best (at least if you want her to look sinister), black might work too, while red seems like it would clash with the clothing

@ PHD: Pics. I would love to see some colour on that model.

Regarding the hair/general look on my model:
Been thinking about another take on the colours...
Army green for the cloth which is purple now. black hair, dark grey/ or possibly brown leather boots, and weathered white for the casing on the chainblade.

JRN - Looks good. I'm rather fond of the white hair it contrasts nicely with the face mask.

As for seeing paint on my model...you'll just have to wait for the big reveal on Saturday

@JRN- Sweet lord, that's awesome! Agreed with the others, the skin tone is very nicely blended! I actually like the entire scheme as-is, but if you see something better, go for it. Right now, it seems to be channelling Warmachine's Menoth team in it's colors... love the purple-maroon color of the skirt.

@ Jackanory- Sorry to hear, man. I hope you at least give it a shot. LOL... I totally feel you though. I saved buying any new minis until I nearly finished my work here, as not to have that same problem. But oh the temptation... evil, evil temptations...

As for myself... I think my mini is FINISHED. Erm... the mini itself, not the base. I got the entire thing painted up... and I'm pretty pleased with it. Perhaps some of you can relate- you know when you paint and it's completely inspired? Your paint scheme seems to "paint itself"... this was definitely NOT one of those moments, but I'm happy with the result nonetheless.

I even got to try some rust/weathering with chalks/pastels... erm... it went... ok...? The chest armor probably looks the worst out of it, but I'm pleased with the legs, and leg armor... despite the color of the rust-dust being a bit "off" from what I saw in my head (it's more red-brown than orange-brown).

Hmm... to post or not to post... that, is the question...

Made really good progress last night.
Really glad I had a go painting chainblade casing white. Haven't done stuff like this a lot, but the dirty white really works I think.
...BUT I am still pondering the skirt and hair.

For the skirt I am still debating if I should go in direction of a really light, slightliy yellow-tinted broken army green.

And the hair might have to end up like in the Duchess Death project. Ghostly white...

I think the first thing will be to finish the purity seals and then have a go at the army green.

LOL@ "sideboob"...

Kidding aside, I think the paintjob is gorgeous- I like the purple, it has a great contrast to the white/gold weathered chainsword. Excellent work, JRN, as always. I can't wait to see the writing on the seals, and the chest cloth piece.

I'll be putting up pics tonight. As previously mentioned, it's pretty much done. I'll be putting that up for posterity, as I have a sinking feeling that I'm about to mess it up with Water Effects.

JRN - I was wrong....black hair works so much better.

The red cloth looks luxurious against the grubbiness of the purity seals and weaponry. At odds with the pious impoverishment of the rest of her.

The dirty white chainsword is great, as is the blood splatter...eek.

The yellow base is different and looks fantastic.

I think I might have to give using a white undercoat another go, after seeing the colours you and migs achieve.
----------------------------------

Well mine is currently under the post varnish tumbler.

So far the spray varnish has worked a treat. As for the gloss varnish, on the staff eye and chest gem stone, it is looking good on the gem stone . I hope another coat of gloss will give it the eye the shine I need.

I'm itching to start taking some photographs

Great work so far, Jakob!
Good to hear that, Peter!

My progress is very slow atm, not due to my typical motivational lows in the painting stage, but mainly due to the demands of starting up my (next) own business.
I could of course rush through the paintjob in my scarce freetime to meet the deadline, but I'm painting so little these days, when I get down to it, I really want to enjoy it rather than making it feel like work.
I'll try my best to finish her before next week though.

Alright, as promised... pre-water effect disaster pics... just to show I actually DID the work... before ing it up. Actually, it's currently in-process... so I can't say I already screwed the pooch. But still... I have nightmares about my X-men Nightcrawler equivalent for =I=... yikes...

Here goes-

I have NO idea if I did the weathering right, but the chalk pastel used added a bit of texture I was both unsure (and just a bit pleased with). The pistol and armor looked screwed up... and totally fits his "scavenger" nature.

Side-View: As promised, I added a bit of rust and concrete dust to his ankles and legs... I like it- breaks up the monotony of his long shins.

From the back: Yup. No wings yet. I'll get to those after the water mix is finished.

Right Side: I love how I actually took the time to color the stuff near the barrel and rocks... but I have NO clue if it's actually going to show up...

Gun Close-up: What a POS. I just thought of another kind of pose for this guy, if I knew his gun was going to look this crappy and burnt out- a samurai standing solemly amidst a field of broken swords.

Armor Close-up: Hmm... don't know what to think. It looks worn, for sure... but not sure if it's quite right. I have no idea if I used the weathering powders right either... but it was fun!

Anyways, that's it for me! Next pics will be the final ones... and "no", I haven't gotten the GIMP *snicker* software yet. I'll be applying the symbol to my pics for the final reveal. Comments and critiques are always welcome! Always looking to improve my work! Right now, the model is going through the "drying" process... I took to coloring the white pasty Water Effects with oldskook green and brown washes, mixed thorougly and spread over the base... looks ok... sculpted a few waves as well... I know I touched his stinger though, all wiped off, but still has some greenish stain on it to repair later. Here's hoping he comes out just fine!

Hey Panic! I have no freakin' clue.. I made a decent-sized batch of it and spread it over maybe ~2mm thick on average. Then started to sculpt it and wipe off sides... how low, dry, and opaque/clear it's going to get, I have no idea. I checked it this morning, and it seems to be hardening down, but the paste is still dark-green/evergreen in some places, but clearish/black in an area I think got thinned out... I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Ah, Jakob - beauty!!!

I like the new version very much. It's very much your trademark style in terms of palette, but the sculpt gives her that fresh edge that I love.

The base is of a fantastic hue for contrast and I absolutely love the hair and the amount of depth you've achieved.

There is a single area I find a little dull though, and that is the lettering on the purity seal, the big one. It would be much much more interesting with some rhythm and hints of color, small detailing like =I= symbols, Large letters to start a section, small one drawings of saints... what ever. I usually try to do that when the surface is large. This example is by no means perfect, but I think the layout and sense of color works very well:

Thats beautiful JRN. The chainsword casing looks great, and i think the rest of it looks perfect as well. I honestly cant see how it could be improved from what i can see!

@Remi: It looks great Remi. I think the weathering powders add a great effect to the whole model, changes the theme of the piece for the better as well imo. Eager to see how your water effects turn out.

This is how far i've got so far, the basic shape is there now, so i'm feeling better about how its progressing. At this point i highly doubt it will be painted by midnight on Saturday, but i should definitely be able to get it built, so that'll have to do for now!!

The hair worked out exactly how i hoped it would 2 months ago! I just flipped it over and stuck the sides on the opposite side of the head. She will be getting a lot of AdMech weirdness implants.
