I'd give it a chance. AoS is fun, it has some stupid rules, but the system is kinda cool.

I'd quit supporting GW. Too many good games out there to put up with money grubbing GW.

I already don't give much money (if at all) to GW, so all it would do is move me fully to re-write a version of 40k that is familiar for existing players, but improved upon.

I'd just stick with the older editions while giving GW the finger. Especially if they maul the fluff, models, or even outright squat armies like they did with AOS.

In my opinion, 40k really ought to be cleaned up, but not to the drastic level of AoS. Although AoS is not as simple as it pretends to be, given the endless variety of special rules on the warscrolls. But 40k could benefit from some streamlining.

Where's the "stick with older versions" option? I woudn't quit as long as I could keep playing real 40k and I wouldn't try Stupid Waste of Time Edition.

As far as supporting GW, if they made stuff that still worked with older versions maybe, but there's a good chance I'd just eBay everything or hope I could find a good third-party supplier.

40k could use some streamlining, simplifying, and whatnot. It's a bloated beast of a game that's really trying to be two or three games in one.

However, AoS I don't think was the way to go for Fantasy, and certainly not for 40k.

So simplified as per AoS, no, I have no interest in that.

Gw would be insane to aos 40k, yes it could do with a bit of streamlining, aos is a badly designed game for kids, yes adults can play it and enjoy it, but it's not designed for them, it's a gateway game it seems, hopefully they will improve upon it or bring back realhammer, hopefully.

AoS is a joke and I pray 40k doesn't get the same treatment. I'll still play older editions but I'd probably move on to other games like Flames of War and expand my Warmachine.

A slight AoS treatment of 40k could improve the game.
Atm, the 40k rule set is a bit over the top.
There would be nothing wrong with simplifying the phases of the game: movement, shooting, and cc.

Certainly some simplification would be handy in some areas I personally didn't mention that (and I figure some others didn't with for the same reason) because that's really not what AOS was, it was completely gutting it and killing the original game to do it.

Honestly I could get behind simplifying some of the more obtuse stuff too. Now, it's also worth keeping in mind that unless you actually do gut it 40k will still be a bit complicated because it handles so many different things now but there are definitely things that can be trimmed.

I wished GW would just steal good ideas and game mechanics from other popular mini games and just use their notorious lawyers on retainer to win legal battles. Just latinize the names and stuff n claim its their ideas.

I'd keep playing 7th. If another company came out with Battlemallet For Tee Kay or Strugglecudgel forty million then I'd play those rules if I thought they were good.

If the rules are free like AoS, I'd at least give it a try. Thing is, I don't see the fluff and armies being tossed out like they did with WHFB, because the fluff and army types are what keeps 40K going with its fanbase.

AoS has alot going for it and uses a design model that many other game companies like FFG and PP already have (ie, rules in the box, free rules and updates via web). The move to free rules would be a huge positive for 40K, and allow for far more flexibility than the old codex model, so I'd totally support that. The ability to rebalance units on the fly at no cost to the consumer would be a nice option, now we just need to see how GW handles that with AoS.

Couldn't a huge chunk of the simplification just be to group relevant information in a codex better? I got back into the game recently and having to read something on page 50, then go to page 69 as it instructs me, only to find out it directs me to go to page 110 to really find out what I need :/.

It's like a really annoying scavenger hunt to figure out how things work sometimes. Just put little foot notes explaining the stuff so it's less of a hassle I'd say.

I'll pluck you like a flower.

Wait until one of the tournament groups comes up with a decent alternate rule set and play their custom version of the game.
