Hello all.

So to start with I am a very basic painter, I have always never been very good at painting nor dedicated the time to it.

However after just starting 30k and the Horus Heresey, I wanted to try and start painting and bettering myself overall with the goal to get a list fully painted so I can go to the od event and so fourth.

Just started my first model today, and whilst Its not finished, I would love any suggestions or feedback on if it looks ok so far.

Thank you.

Hi. You have good coverage with your base coats. Paint has gone on thin, details aren't obscured. This looks like a great start.

Did you use the sepia wash? I think the dark brown wash - agrax earthshade, or whatever GW calls it these days will give the model more pop when painted into the recesses due to the greater contrast between the white and the shade. You can try using that on the gold as well.

You will dull down your whites though, so you will need to go back and tidy up the center of your armor plates with your armor color.

Thank you for the fast reply, I used the agrax earthshade wash.

So now that the wash has been applied, my armor base coat which is rakarth flesh, I should go over the raised areas in this again?.

Like the chest piece and helm etc?

Thanks

I use the seraphim sepia over a white prime and then drybrush white to get the dirty effect for my DG but yours is looking good so far.

I would personally give it a go. Try it in an in-obtrusive place and see if you like it.

Looks really good! Neatly painted with nice smooth strokes. I agree a heavier shade will make the model "pop".

Nice work! This video from GW's WarhammerTV may be of use to you for your Death Guard project:

Looks like the green could use a darker green wash. Is the shoulder pad mounted incorrectly? Skull seems upside down.
