Hi everyone !

I generally think i am a decent enough painter to get to table top standard (nothing special and nothing fancy). But there are two colours to paint i really cannot get right and those are *drumroll*
Green and bone colors!
Now that i started to paint ironjawz (a army that i really want to get into), it is hard for me to get motivated because two of the main colours are green and bone colours. Specially the megaboss.
I gave it a go but i cant seem to get the job done right. Anybody got tips and or tricks? i added some pictures of my megaboss how it looks now

What part of the painting process are you having trouble with? Is it finding the right colours for highlighting and and shading? For highlighting green, other than using bright green, you can also use yellow. For the shade you can use dark red. For highlighting bone your only option is to just mix in some white into your bony colour, but for the shades it's a little different. To mix a shade start with purple (the opposite of yellow, which is present in the bone colour) and then keep adding yellow until you get the colour you want.

Have you tried the Warhammer TV Tip of the Day playlist on YouTube?

Okay!
Looked as close as I could stand.
I would suggest in future starting with a dark brown for the bone (I think you did that for the green).

I would suggest using a wash somewhere in the middle of the tan and cream over the bone shoulder guard because the transition needs to blend a bit: the edge is very defined.
some areas the paint goes a bit transparent in patches: it is not uniform, which would mean washes in layers OR using an airbrush in layers.
I would then pick out some "sharp" edges some lighter white to define them a bit.
When done painting that surface and looking how you want, then use the Sepia wash/shade paying attention to the recesses.

Green is a bit harder.
Some people like a brown to green form of shading and some like to go from a very dark green to light (being a true Ork green puritan).
I like the green you have so-far, it covers well and has hints of brown in the right areas.
A wash to blend it a bit, just slightly brighter green targeting away from the recesses.
Then, an edge highlighting a shade or two lighter (eyebrow - cheekbones...).
When painted smoothly to your liking, apply either the brown wash/shade OR the dark green wash/shade paying attention to the recesses.

Best advice I can give, I am sure there is lots of other methods, this is just to get it to look "good" doing 4 or 5 progressive shades of each element outlined would then get into the crazy stage of things.

Thanks you guys for the tips !

To eleborate how i painted this orruk (or orc?). I am followed the how to paint book for the Ironjawz,
Skin: Primed white, painted with warboss green -> shaded with camoshade -> highlighted with tyrant skull
I tried the how to paint orc video (Waagh flesh -> shade -> warboss green) but that didn't work out for me since i could not get the warboss green evenly on. I might need more practice.
For the bone i used the gw bone paint line (Zandri dust -> agrax earth shade -> ushabti bone). I Guess i should use seraphin sepia to finish of the big skull once i done final hightlight with screaming skull.

The problem i am having is highlighting from a washed base colour. I dont get it on nice and even and it looks kind of weird of i try layering it for a third time.

Skin

Waaagh Flesh base coat
Highlight with Castellan Green
Add Cadian Fleshtone to the Castellan Green a little at a time and keep layering up highlights adding more Fleshtone until you get to a tone you like (I take it to pure Fleshtone on the lips, elbows and shoulders).

You can then use an optional wash of Athonian Camoshade at the end but try not to let it sit on the flat surfaces at all.

This is the brush version of the airbrush recipe I use in this video.

Bone

Rakarth Flesh base coat
Wash with Agrax (again use a clean brush to keep it off the flat surfaces).
Highlight with Ushabti bone and then Pallid Wych Flesh. Clean up with Rakarth Flesh.

You can then use glazes of Rakarth Flesh and Rhinox hide to add shadows.

I use roughly this recipe in this video where I paint the skull on a Flash Gitz Bosspole.

You look like you're doing fine!

only thing I can add to what others have said, is something another dakkanaut gave me a tip about (apologies I can't recall who it was :( :() - for things like teeth, start with a brown basecoat. Then do your zandri dust etc. Much much easier to 'hide' shadows, no need to glaze.
