Hi folks,
Time for a round of everyone's favourite game, 'what on earth just came out of my bits box'

Got some old Tyranids I picked up in a lot a long while back and I can't seem to identify a few. Any ideas?
I'm fairly sure #3 is an old Lictor, tho no idea what edition. 4 seems to be a Biovore but doesnt quite match any examples I'm finding.

Thanks in advance,

Possum

1 is hive guard. 2 is a carnifex. 3 is a lictor.4 is a biovore and 5 is a ravener I think.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Yep these are all from the generation before the current release - several of them appear to be missing legs/arms as well . Flinty got the list of models right.

Thanks so much folks!
I think I've got all the other parts to complete them. Man, nids have changed a LOT.

You should check out the early generations! Hive Tyrants were tiny back in the day; the carnifex was the screamer killer and only had scything blades; the zoanthrope had legs and huge claws.

Some have hardly changed - genestealers and termagaunts are very similar to their original designs.

One interesting change is that over time Tyranid weapons have gone from held items to more fused to the arm weapons.

Another change is change to 6 limbs. 2nd edition limb count was varying.

Aye its varied but most early Tyranids had 6. Screamer killer, warriors, termigaunts, hive tyrant, lictor - in fact I think it might only have been the Zoanthrope that had four limbs back then.

Heck early Hormagaunts were 6 limbs and straight out of the alien films - they were basically a xeno with two extra lance-like arms (and being all metal they NEVER stood up without adding weight to the base)

Not quite. 1 is a Tyrant Guard, not a Hive guard. Completely different units.
