i guess it depends on the system you are going to start collecting/playing.
you dont need superglue unless you are primarely going to do metal/resin models. while you can use it on plastic it is mutch worse then plastic glue.
allso i own thouse clippers, for rough work they are ok, for presision cutting they are utter crap. the brushes are fine and so is the paint+file.
so if you are going for all metal ranges like moust minis from historical games usualy are, or skirmish games like infininty or games that has both metal+plastic+resin like say flames of war, then yea that kit is all you needto get started.
if you however is going to just do GW games then stick to the GW starter. cheasy and overused but you get all you need that is spesificly ment for plastic models.

It's not bad for a start, paints are quite good, brushes will need to be replaced soon for sure. As it was mentioned before, you don't need super glue until you go with metal/resin, clippers are useful, however if you are not afraid of knife you can use scalpel/x-acto for removing/cleaning parts.
If I can recommend any way of start - choose your first miniature to paint, think what colours you will need for it (I recommend Vallejo over army painter, I have bad experience with them). Instead of it, you can buy the set of primary colours (about 10 colours, including washes: white, black, yellow, blue, red, magenta, cyan, purple, black and brown wash optionally). With this you can reproduce any colour you will need (this is better if you paint single minis, if you going with an army I recommend the first option). Buy at least two brushes, one small for details, one bigger for coating (eventually one for dry brushing). Depending on material that model are made of, you will need at least knife or/and files, and super glue/plastic glue to prepare your model. You will also need primer, if you can find buy gray colour, most universal in my opinion.

OK I've slept on it and I want to spend a little more, how about this? I mostly want to paint undead, ghouls, zombies etc, which is why I went for that paint set.

Army Painter is fine, as starter sets go. The set really needs an X-Acto blade and plastic glue.
If you really feel you must get a starter set, just make sure you can easily replace any paints you're buying locally. Running out of black and not being able to get a quick replacement for that shade of black is a pain in the butt. So if your FLGS carries Army Painter, it's fine.

Just a quick aside: I bought that very same lamp last week and it's solid, but I'm hopeless at UK bulbs. Now, thanks to you, I know exactly which one to get

Personally wouldn't recommend it. Army Painter bottled paints are very hit and miss and offer nothing over their competitors. Could be a very frustrating way to start into the hobby.

Right guys, it's ordered, I had to make a few adjustments as some stuff was gonna come later but this is what I have coming!
The models I got cheap "like new" from Amazon Warehouse, reading the reviews I can see why, someone bought them and expected them to be painted. Now I need to find some cool looking undead models.

Not bad. The Mantic Dungeon Saga minis are a bit pants, but decent enough to start on. You seem to have picked up most of what you need to get started. An additional lamp would help (one from each side is ideal).

Really? That sucks, I thought they looked cool. Do you have any suggestions for better undead, zombie, skeleton etc models? They were £17, new they were £40 so figured it was a good deal at least.

Generally with Undead models you're good to go with GW, but they can be very pricey. Mantic is a very hit or miss company, and the minis you picked up are a mix between tabletop miniatures and board game figures. Overall, not a terribly great material - but probably fine for starting out and figuring out how to paint etc.
Mantic's normal range for their Kings of War game has some decent Undead minis (and they're in proper plastic). There are some lovely kits coming out next year from Fireforge Games but that's a way off (they're doing a Game of Thrones style army of undead).
If you're new to the hobby you'll slowly but surely figure out what figure companies are good/bad, etc. Also, sometimes you want a bunch of cheap bad guys and the quality can take a second seat to economy/budget. You'll also figure out if you like resin, metal, or plastic best, etc. Everyone has different tastes.
I've seen people paint up the Mantic Dungeon Saga stuff really well, but it may take a bit more patience.

Or just one lamp with 2 arms. I've been using this one very happily on my portable.painting station. Noting that they also do single.bar versions and versions for desk and floor standing lamps.

That's just internet hobby elitism, if you like the figs then get the figs. I have some of those same ones, they're rather nice as far as undead go and they're a harder PVC plastic with a fair bit of detail, very good to start with. Games Workshop figures are generally nicer, but also much more expensive. Mantic used to be known for being cheap and not great, but even their old undead were generally regarded as pretty good and they've stepped up their quality in recent years. Only thing you'll need beyond that is a good spray primer, don't bother with ArmyPainter, it's overpriced, just get an automotive primer from Krylon or Rustoleum.

Good call on Rustoleum, it's available on Prime and it's about £5 cheaper than GW. I actually have some GW primer, it's 2 years old but sprays fine, will that be OK to use? I don't know if it goes "bad".

If you like undead you could look into zombicide. Not sure if you can get the miniatures seperately but they make some cool zombies, and I've seen them in a modern setting and also fantasy.

Yeah these caught my eye but I'm having trouble finding just the models, and if I do they're really expensive on eBay. I REALLY want the fatty, she looks so funny.

Check out magic madhouse and element games. You can get a box of 10 or 12 for about 25 quid.

If you are using a desk then it's not terribly useful in.my view. You get better paint rack systems specifically for fixed desk areas. As a portable tray I think it's too flimsy on its own, hence the big tray thing I'm using to cart it about on. However it does the job I need it to do In that setup.

Couldn't disagree more on the plastic glue over superglue comments.
Superglue is in my experience superior in literally every way. Instant bond, little mess, you can break the joints without damage if you choose to change something later.
I use it exclusively, and have since pretty much my first forays into miniatures. I find so preferable that when I build scale models nowadays I use superglue instead of poly-cement.

For me I have a PC desk where I'd do the painting, but when I'm done I'd have to clean up and move everything off that's why it looks like a good idea to me as I could just pick up everything in one swoop and put it in the spare room. Maybe there's a better option though, I just want something to speed up the setting up/clearing down phase.

Then inthink it woukd do nicely for you. The work space us a bit cramped for doing any modelling but i think it would work well for you As you describe.
