I finished up my Ur-Ghuls but I wanted to get some feedback on them if possible please . The Ur-Ghul on the left was painted with my normal routine (base, shade, layer) and the Ur-Ghul on the right was basically dry brush (base, shade, dry brush). After I finished my first one on the left I wanted something more dark/natural to the Ur-Ghul lighting feel so I went with some dry brushing. While I enjoy the darkness of the dry brush Ur-Ghul, the left one pops so much more which is great too. What do you guys think?

I think they both look good. The one on the left looks more armoured and harder than the right one. Could you combine the body on the right one and the head of the left to create the best of all worlds?

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Prefer the more naturalistic one on the right.

The right looks like natural flesh. The right looks like it has carapace or plates where the muscle bulges are.

Edge highlighting, or what looks like edge highlighting, creates sharp definition of a shape, and muscles aren’t like that. If you wanted them to have a carapace-like exterior, that would work.

I agree with the left one looking like it has more of a armored skin/carapace look. While I don't want it to be armored, the model itself "pops" more from the edge highlighting but also makes the model look odd imo. So, I went for the drybrush to paint the other Ur-Ghuls more of a natural lighting. Thanks for all the feedback so far everyone, I appreciate it!

I like the one with the obvious highlights showing, but they both look good. Its the one on the left im talking about.

I personally prefer the drybrushed Ur-Ghul as it makes the skin softer and makes the flesh more natural compared to the edge highlighted model.

Both are good and effective however.

Agree with this.

But if I had to choose... I go with the left. Always liked more exaggerated and pop. That's just my taste.

Yeah, if you like a little more pop, you might consider a *faint* drybrush on the right Ghul. It would help to softly raise the appearance of the muscles without having an "edge" to them.

The idea of switching the body and head of the two puts a big smile on my face, something I'll remember for the future The feedback has been great, thank you everybody. I thought about doing another drybrush on the right one to highlight more spots but didn't want to go too far, especially with the first one having more highlights than intended.

I think hard edging the face I the way that you have done on the left would help the while.mini pop, even with just the dry brushing from the right on the rest of the body. I think people are pretty hardwired to go looking for.faces anyway.
