Wow man! That is some sick painting! I could look at the color variations in those wings all day. Love the metal too. Do you just dark ink around detail?

Sorry for the absence, guys... Had a bit of an emergency in the workshop that’s taken a couple days to fix… somehow a big jug of water and flow release I had prepared weeks ago suddenly sprang a leak… surprising how far a little more than a gallon of water will go when it’s on carpet next to a bunch of cardboard boxes. What a mess…

But that’s all cleaned up now, and I’m back to infinity. Just put on the basing compound so it looks like they’re on tarmac! Very nearly done now....

I love painting red....

========================

Thanks for all the complements on the birdman mini, you guys! Client was super stoked about it as well... Its his favorite DnD character, so Im happy he has a nice mini to go with it!

@nerd: As I painted this, that particular bird mini of yours was massively inspirational for me Really helped me visualize all of the highlights and the balances of color.

@Dave: Thanks!! Im thrilled he came out as well as he did. Airbrush and a lot of playing with the P3 paints I have floating around here. Then a bit of washing in key spots and plenty of patience with a fine brish
As to the metals- Its simpler than even that. Base with Boltgun metal (or equivalent) wash SWM Armor wash for that grungy wear. Clean up the splotches of wash once it dries with more boltgun, then do a final line highlight with a bright silver! The same bright silver can add nice nerdfest-style scratches and chips.

@SL: Have faith, brother. Miracles come to those who wait
I've been moving him to an alternate workspace so I can fully focus on him and all his component bits- He'll have his time to shine soon.... I just have a lot to do before reapercon next month!

Hi everyone!!
So geez, what a weekend! Oddly for my boss, he gave me the weekend off. This was good, as it meant I had plenty of time to meet a client request to have these infinity chaps wrapped up and shipped on Monday. Making it less good (I tell a lie... I loved it ) was that my DnD group changed dates on me, so the games we usually run every other couple of days ended up being back to back!!

Busy busy busyyyyy.... I still had so much to do on the Infinity guys before they were presentable!
Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep...

But the infinity is D O N E!

Our first closeup is the first Father Knight- Biggest departure from my norm on these guys was the power weapons. I normally airbrush the blends, however with the pure white of the armor getting in the way, I couldnt afford any overspray. All the blades in this army were handpainted with a combination of glazes and wet blending. Could have used a few tweaks along the process, but now I know better for next time.

The second Father Knight:

And an ORC Trooper:

A pair of Magister Knights- The client wanted varied colors on the blades, so I used this as time to experiment with new color blends... He sends me any more, you can bet that Im gonna do one up in magenta!!

A trio of squishy Guardsmen brave Fusiliers.

Five Order Sergeants:

And lastly, my favorite mini of the bunch- The Trauma Doc!
The client and I had a long discussion about what color to do her coat in... Almost went labcoat white, but Im glad he went with a brilliant red- really looks sharp in the sea of white!

Now, phase number the next one... Two minis that I missed in the original batch: A Special Order Sergeant (sniper with camo) and a Teutonic Knight, who will be sporting black armor! (Oh hey, he has a sword too... guess what color its gonna be )

After that, its full on Reapercon prep-time! Got three minis for On The Lamb to do by then, and if I can manage it, I want to finish up a few Brewers minis for Guildball!

Wow! - That's amazing! Well done! The white armor is so perfect...

Thanks you guys!! Client is thrilled by them as well... So thrilled, that apparently Ill have more in the future!! @_@ (dont worry, WM, your titan comes first )

@WM: By your command! (unless you were doing those DnD figs like you were thinking, of course )
I should be kicking into high gear on the Titan post convention. Ill be recharged and working in a new, slightly larger area. Assuming the blasted card table stops sagging!!! (really gotta find another one soon >< )

@nerd: I have a long way to go before cracking the skin barrier, but watching you do your stuff is infinitely helpful!! The eyes... well, I pure just got lucky on these guys!!! The Infinity sculptors really do have a knack for expressive models, though....

@SL: Its dirt simple, actually... Just takes a bit of finagling- You start with various shades of light gray (applied via zenithal airbrushing), then gloss coat it. After that cures a day, hit the model with a black oil wash to get in all the recesses. Thats where this technique shines- small, heavily lined areas! Let that dry a few hours then carefully clean the flat areas with a paper towel slightly dampened with mineral spirits. this redissolves the oil paint, leaving it only in the recesses. The gloss coat we applied makes sure it doesnt stick!
Hit with a matte varnish, then edge highlight with pure white!

=====================

Busy day of regular 9-5 work, then cleaning my workshop, but I put a bit of work into the two remaining infinity guys. For the Special Order Sergeant, IM going with a geometric camo- almost a Dazzle scheme. Going to put smaller pure black polygons over the gray, and with some minor details after that, he should be looking pretty camo!

On the other side of things is the Teutonic Knight. Hes getting all black armor- Heh... Its one challenge color to the other with this army, Haha!

Another project Im working on is a group of Wulfen. The client has very clean armor on his guys, so I need to replicate one of his minis. Always a toughie...

Lastly, and this is an interesting one... I guess its an old old old Wolf Lord? THe client says its a rather rare model, and Im really excited to paint up the details on him! Lots of fun little bits here and there, from purity seals to the runes/filigree of his axe!

I have been around the GW traps for longer than I care to admit, but that last Space Wolf model doesn't ring any bells with me. It's a beauty. Looking forward to see what you come up with for him.

@sturguard: Ahhhhhh I see! Wow thats awesome!! I never knew GW made any diorama type stuff like that, especially back in the day!

@WM: Ooooh.... That sounds rough...
Not a problem, though- I'm always open, so just let me know

======================

Letting stuff dry on Infinity, so more work on the SW minis- Trying to match some of the client's previously painted stuff, so the highlights are a bit different than my normal stuff. Lots of edge highlights!
Bit more to go on the sharpest edges, then itll be on to blacking out details.
