I am really looking forward to the terrain - along with, of course, everything else!

But I can't stress enough I much I am looking forward to that "Opposing Force" option - and the rules!

As to the buildings. You do not need a StuG to play the game, you do need terrain that blocks line of sight from 8.5” tall models.

Scenery has never been a problem when playing a game. there are many companies that make scenery in all sizes and forms, and people make a lot themselves.

But Eisenkern buildings would be cool but please no skulls (German eagles perhaps?)

But from a collector point of view, we need STuGs! it just looks cool together with the army and the leviathan and the APC, must have it, need my plastic crack!

You have a lot of 9" tall scenery/buildings?

Where did you get them from?

Quaker oats. New balance. Pegasus hobbies. Lego.

If there has to be Eisenkern terrain, please let it be a campy blend of WW2 and Star Wars. You know, so it fits with the Eisenkern.

Also makes it odd to have such an emphasis on human infantry if your people are dying. Why not use drones, robots or alien proxy armies instead?

When I started this many years ago, I knew what I wanted and how I wanted it to play the terrain is as important to the game quality as the miniatures themselves. The buildings have a Bladerunner feel 1920- 1940 architecture with pipes and greebles to sci-fi them, it fits with the Eisenkern esthetic but can be easily switched up to play WWII, contemporary zombie, etc by simply swapping out the bits packs.

Now this sounds very awesome! I think your greatest challenge will lie at producing the terrain cheap enough for it to be sold at a decent price. Very curious to see how you'll solve that!

Terrain certainly seems like a curious choice. I would guess that an opposing force would be in much higher demand than gigantic terrain, but if his other kits are doing well, NoseGoblin can make and sell whatever he wants to.

Because Robots and drones are highly unreliable in the type of warfare in Iron Core.

When an enemy force jumps into a system at a pirate point (any point other than a pre-set gateway) it unleashes phenominal electromagnetic surges. This electromagnetic havoc has a tendency to fry all but the most hardened infrastructure (which is very hard to do with human technology) and short out microprocessors.

Also, planetary weather patterns are severely disrupted for up to a year. Freak storms, unpredictable weather patterns etc make it very hard for any type of drones to operate.

The IC background does provide conditions that would make things problematic for a military heavily dependent on drones/robots. There's also the same issues that armies deal with today, that there are some jobs for which infantry is best suited. While it's theoretically possible to develop a level of technology that allows you to produce robots or drones that are as creative, versatile and lethal as human soldiers in all environments the Eisenkern don't have that level of technology in IC.

I think Mark's comment about them being a dying people was more of a descriptor than a specific reason for mourning casualities. They're fighting an alien menace and losing. They can't just stop fighting the Shadokesh but the harder they fight, the bigger the battles, the more casualties they take. It's a nasty catch 22 that stinks all over. Fighting rearguard actions in a war that you seem doomed to lose is a more bitter pill to swallow than mourning soldiers lost as the price for victory.

You got me dude. I would assume they're put in shielded areas onboard the invading ships, or in shielded areas of a planetary base. Main problem with the drones is that the weather patterns and electromagnetic interference plays havoc with communications according to Mark's fluff. Almost all comms is restricted to short range, and using Lasers.

May be a hole there. Maybe Mark can explain it more in depth.

Now I saw the MULE as being lower tech than the armour (armour needing targetting optics and the like) so would be cheaper to replace the 'brains' of them as they were less complicated. There could be shielded manufacuring plants that churn them out, receive recalled units and repair them and send them out into the field again.

If the drones are more like remote controlled things rather than radio controlled, then they only really need to be complex enough to not fall over. a proper drone would have to be a lot more complex than that, and therefore a lot more susceptible to that sort of disruption.

It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." Hmm, then clones might be another good alternative. In 40k the Dark Eldar use something similar by having most of their own warriors vat-grown. That way you can quickly replace your dead soldiers.

One of the things I always find odd in most scifi is how stuff like that is often ignored. I mean, they're able to produce FTL ships, colonize vast areas of space, create all sorts of magical weapons and energy sources, yet still fight as if it's WWI or WWII, lack any real automation and cloning is often ignored. But then again, DreamForge is basically doing WWII in space sort of, so I shouldn't be too nitpicky about it, besides their infantry and StuG's look amazing, so who am I to complain?

Lets remember that most of the tech advances they have are based off of captured/reverse engineered alien tech. They started building the leviathans after a huge loss of troops that captured a Shadowkesh leviathan, so advances are made in that area, not in all areas. Plus who knows what the other factions are going to have in the way of cloning, it might be happening, but it would be on a smaller scale still possibly. Maybe the "English in spaaaaaace" faction will have clones, but just for the royalty or their best fighters. Although I could possibly get behind a faction of the Catholic Church in space that clones its troops, and the pope would be pope xxxxx the 50th incarnation of himself as he is continually cloning himself for immortality (hence the church has broken its own doctrine, and people begin worshipping him/antichrist )

Well, the fluff for the protectorate is they have more people than resources to feed them, so Hmmmm, send them out to fight to help ease the strain?

Hmm, it's a bit of a shame the buildings don't have that same futuristic feel as the models themselves...

Human architecture from a culture that had to hit the stars well before they were actually ready. But look at how some military hardware looks out of place amongst our police forces of small towns. I figure that simple and effective yet strong building codes for quakes and other storms on worlds Humanity has settled are likely. Mixes of earlier designs with more modern ones seen in the images, just in some of the art work there has been vents and ducts and fans and AC units, rooftops are where the most air tech will be situated.

As noted in the fluff, WW-I was interrupted, so the Kaiser would have been still in charge, or his family most likely, so Eisenkern are likely like a cross between WW-I society meets more modern and advanced in war tech.

It's a good thing Dreamforge's background is what imformed the Stormtroopers, and not some Star Wars + WW2 "generic space baddie" aesthetic. Yeah, no one would want terrain that fits that look. Based on the popularity of allllllllll the already-available modern(ish) terrain (often at low, low prices that Dreamforge can't match), that's definitely the niche Dreamforge should aim for. Thank goodness the canon supports it!

You'll have to forgive me, but I don't believe that for a moment, given that this breakdown is literally only 2 weeks old. Way too much to be done still.

Are you talking about mdf buildings? There are some people who don't abide by the stuff (I think it's fine, by the by) and only want plastic.

I'm hoping the mold split of the Command Box is last because they basically already have the info needed from, say, the basic infantry box, as well as the accessory sprues. It's just mashing the two and adding a few odd bits.
