I know they've mentioned before that they talked to quite a few other companies that got hosed on the shipping costs, so they probably hedged theri bets early, but will make up for it in the end with value as we get through the tiers. I can see a lull occurring if the value isn't there for the first little bit though.

Actual Ork Bomma radio transmissions intercepted:

"Dis is Oddboy to BigBird, come in over."
"BigBird 'ere, go ahead, over."
"WAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHH!!!! over"

Heh. I just noticed that 4 of the initial 7 heroines are priced at $15 each - so they don't fit the "x number of $10 heroines" in their pledge levels...

Yeah I'm in at early commander which is giving me about $240 worth of stuff for $250 (UK postage). Maybe the stretch goals will nudge it in my favour, but it's still a reasonable discount versus RRP.

With the mad rush to get an early bird, people were just grabbing whatever is available and roughly fit their budget. I'm assuming that stretch goals will make them better value than a slight RRP discount. And if they don't, it's easy enough to just...

That's my thinking, I've gone in for far more than I intended initially as it was the first mini's based early backer, though the difference isn't that much (~$15) should I want to drop down to a lower non-EB later. I suspect there will be plenty of them free before it ends.

I am surprised they only had 50 of each though, but I doubt they were expect that level of pledging by a long shot. We're nearly at 9x the funding goal and it's only been open 30 minutes.

Female Guardsmen cannot be profitable. Sisters of Battle cannot be profitable. These are the indisputable facts. Raging Heroes is insane if they think this project will ever meet that lofty target of $10,000. Insane, I tell you.

I assumed they meant it was a captain level instead of commander.

Description is clearly commander, and the bundle is $2 more than the non-early bird captain pledge.

Looking again, there's actually two screwed up commander pledge levels with people pledging blindly: 350 and 367.

Heros are metal and troops are spin-cast resin. Really going to have to think long and hard about this one. :(

Still, I have a month or so to decide.

Happy with my EB Colonel pledge. What they've got up is looking really good so far. Pricing and value etc. I'm happy to wait for. But yeah some of the heroines don't seem worth the premium they have over the others.

3d sculpt for nepharya looks reidiculously awesome.

Hmm... kinda sad that all the major deals involve infantry. I don't really want any infantry. It'd be nice to get a deal for people who just want the Heroines.

The Painter level is for 8x heroines and the digital art book.

They're a few stretch goals behind for some reason, these guys are never on time!

Yeah... and that's it. The "sweet spot" pledge is both higher and is for mostly infantry. There's no "Heroines Only" equivalent of the sweet spot pledge. That's what I wanted.

Hopefully they've figured out spin-cast resin and don't pull a GW :p

Still, I'd have expect it to be the other way round - resin hero's and metal troops but I'm sure they know what they are doing

What is the difference between the $230 EB package and the $350 one?

Both appear to be completely identical.

Kick Traq only updates every 10 minutes or so I think. It'll look a lot more reasonable once the initial rush calms down.

Looking at it the models are actually higher than GW models during the KS. Not sure how well that will translate to retail for them but I'm in at the $150 early bird. I noticed the value doesn't increase dramatically until you hit the $475+ levels and I figure an early bird on those isn't worth giving up the more likely level I'm going to hang out at.

Models look cool but the shipping is pretty gnarly.

Well this kickstarter started with a major disappointment for me.

There goes the early bird I wonder why I ever camped for it, the entire page is arcane and un intuitive, the pledges a mess and the only reference that commander and upward gets free minis is buried.

For the stated goal, I don't think they could have done what they posted. I've read a lot of successful KS set the bar below what is actually required, so it can show as funded, thus encouraging pledges.

Even so, surely at 100k plus already they've hit the real level.

But even so, this is an obvious point that female figure can sell. if you make great minis, people will buy them. In droves.

There is a word for a wargamer with an empty paint bench.

Dead.

It looks like they're adding more "early bird" levels. The $230 one now also has a $233 one next to it with 49 remaining.

Same at the $350 level - again, not clear what the difference between the $230, $233, and $350 levels are; they seem identical.

I thought it was really well laid out, with an easy to see graphic for what each pledge level received.

Do what Mantic and Secret did and get distrubtors that will ship for you in major markets to keep down cost. Charging $23 in shipping to what is generally the largest group involved in kickstarters doesn't bode well for speculators.

Example: At the $150-$165 level I'm paying around 15% shipping. Which means that it's almost better to wait for retail, take the 20% discount that you can generally get from larger online retailers, and pay little to no shipping.

But I like the figures shown so far, they make pretty stuff, I'm willing to go in for a bit and see what happens over the campaign. Way more excited for this than the mantic one I just completed

Yeah $23 in shipping to Canada isn't that surprising.
