31? Blimey it was half that when I joined up!

Some very nice progress already on that Hellhound Radu, and nice variety from the likes of Barzam, Highlord and the likes but my favourite thus far has been those MEdge figures from keltikhoa, inspired stuff.

Have done half my figures for this month, so here is my GoA Algoryn Command Team. I do not want anything special for the army just a nice table top quality paint job.

Keep up the posting everyone.

Ha! That is Warlord's job not mine.

I do hope that the butt waving Orcling will be making an appearance.

No... not this time. I got almost everyone but him though, both with swords and the raspberry and dead one. I didn't wanna pack the base too much because I've got several more Regiments and I want to consolidate and do one really dense orcling regiment later on.

What'd you build the base out of?

Did you glue all the orcs down, or are they still removable?

One of these days I want to try multibasing.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

The base of the base is some kind of card/paper/matboard. Low density fiber board? I found it in hobby lobby. It's way thicker than cardstock/construction paper, denser than regular cardboard, and so on. It's kind of like what they make cheaper game tiles out of but without glossy printed surfaces on most of i t. Neat stuff, bought like 70 sheets on clearance but am having trouble finding more. I took one sheet over another and punched the 25mm holes into the top layer for the bases to socket into.

Next I covered the base with a couple of layers of DAP crackshot (any kind of spackle/nail-hole repair type stuff would do, they have different hardness/drying parameters I guess) and painted it by hand (since there were six orcs attached to it). Glued on the orclings and gubbins, dipped it, then sealed it. Following the sealer I put down some PVA glue and added flock, superglued in some prepared metal/flock flowers I found on discount, and hotglued down some spongy shrubbery looking bits.

Pretty simple though it sounds a bit convoluted when I type it all out.

8 of the 14 orcs come off the base and 6 are permanently attached. I figure that's enough from one unit to use for other games like skirmish or D&D.

OK, I've added in Radu and the IG armoured column. The Old-School Hellhound is looking nicely weathered already.

As I've mentioned on the individual Plogs, both the Algoryn and Morax look great.

Wondering when I should close up "entries" for new participants given that there's not much of January left? Option 1 is to "close" it Sunday night (AU time, probably) which still gives any new people a week to try to knock out a January result, or close it next Sunday with it being a 5-6 month challenge with Jan almost being an optional month. Thoughts?

I have finished my Capitol Sea Lions. They look a little rough in the pic but they aren't quite as bad in reality, I don't think that painting cam cream really works on 28mm models . These models are also the most frustrating that I have ever had the misfortune to assemble, so many bits....

Also some Truks, Wartraks, Skorchas and Gunfortresses for my Orks

Just got a few odds and ends to do and that will be me for the month.

Nearly finished my Dungeon Furniture, only the Bookshelves and final 10 doors to go!

The weapon racks were more fun to paint than the shelves, but I think they're both really nice additions to anyone's dungeon furniture sets!

Oooh fancy, I like the freehand shields. Very iconic motifs with the tree on green, moon, and sun designs

The shelves look pretty sweet too.

I really need to finish one full set so the other two aren't so daunting.

Think I'm gonna front load the pain and do the core riders next. I'll probably be slowing down in the spring and summer so I need to do the harder stuff first.

Lot of restic but the boars look pretty decent so far.

Nice work on those Capitol troops - I do agree that cam cream doesn't translate that well to 28mm. It's like a few other things that don't really work in our scale that work (obviously) IRL and even in larger scales like 1:6 - camouflaged guns are hard to pull off since at a certain point of smallness (or distance - which the tiny sizes simulate) everything just blends into everything else - which when you think about it is the whole point of camo.

Spoiler:

With the pic even at this size, this 1:6 operator's MP7 blends into his uniform.

With the result that we do lots of abstract and unrealistic things that actually make our models look better - like paint firearm metal arts in variations of iron to silver and the like, and pouches are so often "brown leather" or perhaps "green canvas" - and rarely use face paint. Camoflagued clothing often covers only part of a model, and people paint their space marine scouts in bright, heraldic colours despite their raison d'etre being to sneak around.
Here are my own Dark Angel Scouts - I've tried to straddle the "but scouts = stealthy" line while making concesisons to "miniatures not reals" with the weapons, webbing, pouches and boots. Some people still don't like them since they "don't look like Dark Angels" though.
Spoiler:

The belt buckles really pop on your guys, though. I wonder how they'd look with a low-vis/tactical flag patch kind of scheme?
Spoiler:

/tangent

The Epic Orks look great - now there's a bunch of guys who don't give two hoots about camo! I remember the larger Wartrak Scorchas. I wish I hadn't sold mine off back in the day.

Boss - nice freehanding on those shields. Its quite effective, and I like the shading you've used as well, particularly on the green fields and the suns. I should figure out where I put my weapon racks and do them at the same time as my bookshelves.

I don't normally paint any kind of camo for the reasons already mentioned although I felt that these guys really needed it given their fluff, even if their belt buckles can be seen from orbit.

Despite having now painted up about 20 assorted light vehicles and 12 or so Warbikers I still only have 1 legal formation.

These will be next on my purchase list (depending on what turns up on ebay of course). With some infantry I should have enough to get some small games in.

I'd love to see you add tiny little ork crew to all (or a bunch of) those vehicles, actually. Perhaps something worth a revisit once the main stuff is done, or a "side project"? Because it would look awesome!

I love that epic cult of speed, and also dungeon furniture! Love it. I need some dungeon furniture for my adv hrqst. Alien space warriors on crystalline bases are good too as is that lovely new mechanicum stuff, it's so blancheian.

I am also stuck in treacle over my frostgrave soldiers. I've started painting tartan on one of them... Him and the barbarian I think will be scotishish.

Its on my too do list, well for the Trucks and the Gunfortesses anyway. I am also thinking of adding some black cotton wool 'smoke'.

Indeed

Since I bought my Capitol the list has been updated and substantially reorganised which means that it is now illegal as Aircav and Heavy Infantry, which used to be my troop choices, have both been moved to support choices. Given that I don't know anyone who plays the game it may well end up being shelved now.

Well that's my output for this month, including the table that I am in the process of building for my son's train set.

I also managed to get a 'Mini Epic' game with my Orks, a 1k point game with set restrictions. I won due only just.

Its quite surprising just how survivable Orks hordes are but they are unwieldy and vulnerable to crossfires and combined attacks as I found out. They can certainly throw out a lot of attacks though (each Gunfortress has 8 ranged attacks...)

Sorry keltikhoa - I missed you. I've added you into the OP now and very nice work on the MEdge models, as well.

========================================

I've just updated the OP with links and pics of some people's completed January stuff.

If I could ask people who have finished their January target and haven't already done to so to please post a single pic of all your completed stuff in this thread, and I'll add it to the OP and also a link to your own P&M blog or offsite blog or whatever you prefer.

This is especially so for you guys who have been kicking arse well enough to finish many items or units this month.

You can do this as late as Sunday, but depending on work it might take me a day or three to update the OP with January's output.

@ Januine, could you choose the best pic of your Magos and post that as the big multi-pic is a bit large for the OP.

@ Barzam - the same!

@ Ulf, if you could also post a slightly smaller version of your Tyrant for the size reason.

@ Puffin, your current pic seems to have gone into the pink a bit. I can leave it or update the OP if you take another. Totally your call on that one, mate.
