The actual suits are different too, aren't they? I haven't seen the new ones in person, but the photos make them appear much more dynamic than my original ones.

The new suits are set up way better than the old ones. There's far more poses you can put them in, the bodies are slightly larger and less stunted looking, and the bases are the new proper size. Overall I much prefer the new ones to the old.

I fail to see why. Customer service has said it's not replaced by C:AI and they still sell it. Only the Facebook page initially said otherwise.

I'm curious as to why a CSR is weighted heavier than a Facebook rules team.

Because
a) the rulebook is still sold and
B) the named cannoness literally states both books are valid because she can be taken In either codex

In other words rules team trumps everyone!!!

Grab a beer sir. You have convinced someone on the internet to abandon their viewpoint for your own!

I agree.

The founding chapters work because over time sufficient detail has built up around them to give them weight.

As you add more and more chapters the content each gets becomes thinner and thinner until there is basically nothing there.

There are 5 main Eldar Craftworlds and a few minor ones. Over the years they have seen some fluff to ground them in the universe (arguably very little, but for Xenos quite a bit).

By contrast there are what, over 20 official kabals, cults and covens for the Dark Eldar. Most of which have literally a single paragraph of fluff and they will never get any more. No wonder they never really get thought about.

In the same way Necron Dynasties are separate principally due to them liking different colours (yes I know they tried to pad out two with supplements). Same with Harlequins or the randoms factions of Thousand Sons in Wrath of Magnus. With the exception of the main studio group these factions are mentioned once with a line that basically says "our difference over the others is that we love purple" and are promptly never mentioned again.

Do Space Marine players really want a paragraph or two on the Doom Eagles, Howling Griffins, Novamarines and two dozen others who will receive maybe two lines in all the fluff from now to 2030?

Guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one then IMO adding more meat to the bare bones descriptions of other chapters/craftworlds ect expands the scope of the setting and gives the writers more freedom.

Spoiler:

So abaddon sabotaged the pylons and they blew up tying to hold back the immaterium, Celestine and her 2 guards gets killed by abaddon (or his forces for her guards)but Celestine comes back (while slowly losing her soul each time), Celestine revives just in time to save a one armed mangled creed from dying by abaddon and what remains of the cadian 8th pulls creed to safety. Celestine severely wounds abaddon by putting her sword into his spine.
(Side note: the power derived from faith in the emporer is warp based)
The named ad mech guy got the pylons to close a large section of the eye of terror but in the process blew up a lot of sabotaged pylons and he had to give up holding the pylons together with help from trayzn who was there to actually fight abaddon by releasing a bunch of storm troopers, vostroyans, ogyrns, and ultramarines, (maybe Wulfen too because I have no idea how they got to cadia), but once gak hit the fan trazyn decided he wanted abaddon for his collection. (Trazyn hadn't caught abaddon yet but there is still time).
Imperial fist 1st company was wiped out (again?), 3rd company is almost completely gone.
Inquisitor Greyfax pretty much thinks everyone especially Celestine is a heretic even though Celestine saves greyfax from losing her mind when the pylons went bezerk mode.
So abaddon and chaos temporarily retreats back to the eye but the pylons are gone and most of the imperial forces are beaten and ultimately cadia is going to fall once abaddon regroups.
My guess is in the next book abaddon attacks again, cadia falls, trazyn captures abaddon and disappears, dark eldar open thier webway and save what's left of the imperial forces, without the pylons the eye of terror will expand and somewhere another primarch returns.

I don't know how to get a signed Abbadon poster for my collection because no way am I buying one of these huge bundles. Not sure why they give a chaos star Abbadon for a bunch of loyalist bundles either.

new video

Last year we promised that 2017 would be the best year of Warhammer 40,000 ever, with incredible new miniatures, climactic galaxy changing events, and epic developments in the story of the Dark Millennium to mark 30 years of war in the far future…

It all starts on Cadia, as the fortress world of the Cadian Gate braces itself for the greatest Chaos invasion in Imperial history.

Against the Gathering Storm, stand some of the greatest heroes of the Emperor’s realm, depicted in a few of the most incredible Citadel Miniatures we’ve ever made: the Triumvirate of the Imperium.

Gathering Storm: Fall of Cadia is a an event that any fan of Warhammer 40,000’s lore and background will want to read. In many ways, this is a battle that has been brewing for 10,000 years, since the first Warmaster of Chaos, Horus, fell at the siege of the Emperor’s Palace above Terra itself. Now, his successor, Abbadon, plays his hand*.

For those gamers out there, there are loads of new rules in there too. Naturally, there are datasheets for the three new heroes, all of which are powerful warriors and have rules that can bolster any Imperial force. There are also new rules to form Grand Crusades composed of the combined might of the full Imperium – Adeptus Astartes, Astra Militarum, Adeptus Mechanicus, Imperial Knights, Adepta Sororitas and all the other myriad arms of the Imperial war machine.

Additionally, there are rules for playing games in and around the Cadian Gate at the time of this 13th Black Crusade. Empyric storms ravage the war zone, empowering psykers, creating vortexes of Warp energy, and generally making the battlefield an even deadlier place than usual!

You can whatever you want about the new Necrons, but Trazyn is the best thing added to the fluff in a long time and nobody can dispute that.

And... the book/card/minis bundle is already sold out! The book and minis are available separately still, however. I love GW's business model.
But for what it's worth, Canoness Veridyan is back in stock on the US webstore.

I don't understand why the pre-orders aren't more 'time limited' vs. 'quantity limited'.

Wouldn't it make sense to...sell as many as you can, to as many people as want them?

Indeed. I wanted one of those new AdMech battle forces. But, when I went to buy, found out they were limited and all gone.

One would think. The only ones who win with the current method of pre-orders are the ebay resellers.

With things like books and cards I expect its because GW have to place there order with the printers months in advance. Although when its model only bundles like the Christmas battleforces I don't see why they cant send online orders out in generic white boxes if they run out of the specially printed ones.

An example of people asking for the setting to be moved forward, but then finding that what they ended up with was far far away from what they liked, played and wanted?

Viewing just the text the Grand Convocation looks like a steal - but I somehow doubt we'll get three Ironstrider Ballistarii and 3 Kataphron Destroyers and 3 Kataphron Breachers... I guess the picture shows the real content.

I mean, GW aren't really moving the setting forward. They are doing the 13th Black Crusade again. They have danced this exact jig before and nothing of note changed.

I don't think there is a risk of 40k going Age of Sigmar in terms of a wholesale destruction and remaking on the universe. For one thing, they make far too much money licencing there massively sucsessfull setting to video game studios and things.

Now, I think it's quite likely that rules lessons learned from AoS may well make there way to 40k, but thats a whole other thread.

I think we have every reason to be upbeat about the Fall of Cadia. They are finally going to go around bringing out new characters, the named Character models are by and large the most dated part of the range.

What I want to see though, is some rules. Been bouncing around from here to B&C to 4chan to spikey bits to BolS to Natfka to War of Sigmar.. on and off all day. Nothing. Nada. Not a drip of rules leakage. Have GW abandoned the "review copies" thing?

If the text proclaims "this set contains" or words to that effect, then the text lists what you will get or you can sue the company under U.K. consumer protection law, which is based in large part on E.U. directives so you should be able to do much the same in Germany.

Why not? That's a HUGE bundle. 3 Ballistarii and 6 Kataphrons don't make up much of it.

Webstore says it includes..

- a framed and signed commemorative art print by Paul Dainton limited to a mere 50 individually-numbered copies, as well as 3 artwork cards featuring the heroic Triumvirate of the Imperium from The Gathering Storm: Fall of Cadia;
- a Tech-Priest Enginseer;
- 10 Skitarii Vanguard;
- 10 Skitarii Rangers;
- 3 Kataphron Destroyers;
- 3 Kataphron Breachers;
- 3 Ironstrider Ballistarii;
- 2 sets of 5 Electro-Priests – a set of Coruscarii and a set of Fulgurite;
- 5 Sicarian Infiltrators;
- 5 Sicarian Ruststalkers;
- a Start Collecting! Skitarii set – this adds another 10 Skitarii Vanguard, another Onager Dunecrawler and a Tech-Priest Dominus.

Seems fairly clear.
