Subject: Space Hulk: Deathwing - Released for the PC
The development of Space Hulk: Deathwing, the First Person Shooter for PC and consoles from StreumOn Studio, gains momentum, with the glimpses of the game’s first environments now emerging. Each and every one of the game’s element have been carefully crafted by the talented teams from StreumOn, with flawless regard for detail and respect for the Space Hulk license created by Games Workshop.
This is illustrated in the new trailer Rise of the Terminator. Supported by an original soundrack from band Kadebostany "Walking with a Ghost", its powerful images will immerse you in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Terminators and Genestealers come alive and clash together in a deadly struggle, and this is only beginning.
Space Hulk: Deathwing will release on consoles and PC.

As cool as this trailer is and I'm going to paraphrase a quote from Mr. Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation fame: "A pre-rendered CGI trailer is as useful of informing us about the game as them showing us the plastic they are going to use to wrap the box". I'm going to hold judgement until I see some actual gameplay footage.

Not gameplay footage, but in-game images.

Honestly I really enjoyed that choice of music. It's great not to have more dour hymnals or metal. Plus the trumpets at the end put me in the mind of spaghetti westerns which if that's what they're going for, I'm think I'm going to enjoy this.
By the 37 keys of Tzeentch,We open the way for our brothers,
By the 1000 whispers of Slaanesh we call to them,
By the 12 plagues of Nurgle we fell their enemies,
And by the mighty axe of Khorne we cut open the world for them!

That meets nothing. The "Meet the Team" videos of TF2 fame are made using the Source Engine too but they don't tell you much about the gameplay itself. I'm not saying that this game is going to be bad. Far from it. I think it has some promise. However, I am saying to not get too excited until we see the actual gameplay first.

I'm just walking with a ghost
And he's walking by my side
My soul is dancing on my cheek
I don't know where the exit is
I have short hair
And I'm faced with a few complications
So, so if you care
Try to analyse the situation
You know, man
As the leaves fall on the ground
My soul is goin'
Round and round and round
So please, do it well
Just break the spell
Why don't you do it right?
I don't want another fight
I'm not creatin'
My flow with my ego
I'm taking off my hood
And I'm entering deeply in the wood
Wut?
Who listened to this and thought "That's so applicable to genetically altered warriors fighting extragalactic monsters in a Gothic space rock!".
If they want to be clever and pick something that doesn't fit the tone they'll need to try harder. I hope this is just trailer music and doesn't get into the final game.
I hope they have a gameplay tailer on the way because it's a bit of a piss take that they've just produced this and there's nothing else to go on.
The visuals are fantastic, one hell of a trailer. The music's off because it's at a least 3 different styles that might have worked individually, but have been smushed together awkwardly. You can see why: ambient bit for the moody introductory shots, rapping as the action picks up and mariachi as it starts to look like a last stand a la Spaghetti Westerns. Unfortunately the transitions are too harsh and too quick for it to work.
But looks cool, at least better than Storm of Vengeance or basic Space Hulk - but the graphics look... weird. A bit stiff and sham. I hope final version will look better and smoother.
Anyway, another game beside Vermintide and Mordheim that I can put to my "Must-play" list in 40K/FB genre

HOOOOLY gak THAT MUSIC! Such a brilliant choice. At first I was like "huh"? Then I was like "OH GOD YES". Very inspired choice, I love that they went past the usual "epic strings" type of trailer music. Terminators are truly GANGSTA and also MARIACHI.
Oh and the band is Kadebostany, and now I'm buying their album.

Should have just used some Mariachi barrio gangsta raggaton dub mix with some gunshots thrown in.....
Oh wait.
Game looks brilliant, though. Good thinking bringing the funk, GW!
Lets hear a little Isaac Hays Shaft stuff for the next one.
GW, keeping it gangsta since the 40K millienium
At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Sixty Seconds To What? would have been a much more appropriate song if they wanted a Western feeling.
First forty seconds they could pan through the desolate halls of a vessel to the sound of the xylophone? It would be like exploring the sunken titanic except in the void of space, we could see a child's doll floating in the void, perhaps the desiccated husks of the passengers. The guitar builds tension further as we see the claw marks and acid burns on the interiors and other signs of tyranid infestation. Then they focus on a bulkhead door as the chorus comes in. At about 50 seconds a power fist tears it off the hinges and the organ is there greeting the Angels of Death as they enter the room. Then the trumpets come in and we see the captain staring down genestealers which are scuttling along the walls, floor, and ceiling. The two sides tear into each other with gunfire and claws.
Then you see the aftermath of the fight as the xylophone returns. Both sides completely wiped out.

As far as the music goes, I like it. It's not what I want to be hearing in the background while I'm in-game, but I think it'd work as backing track to the trailers/credits.
Can't believe the reaction to the music is so negative. Do you really want nothing but the tired old epic choir/The Rock soundtrack? I think it was a brilliant choice that really puts a different spin on the Space Marine concept. The music is at odds with the traditional image of gothic, grimdark epicness, which is why it works so well. Such a simple thing as a bold choice of music manages to make the Marines appear more human and show another side of the 40k universe, which is much more interesting to me than piling on the church organs and latin choirs like we see in every other trailer of this type. I must've watched it at least 10 times at this point, and it only gets better.
