User:ArbitorIan

Hello. I'm Ian and this is my Dakka homepage. In real life, I'm a video/projection/sfx designer from London, UK. I work on theatre shows, touring productions, operas, comedy, and with live bands. Which is nice - I get to travel with work quite a bit, and i don't have a conventional 9-5, so I have lots of time on my hands to paint and convert. I also make music videos, and play in bands as a musician.

I've been playing GW games since I was about ten, so quite a long time. In that time I've played 40k, WFB, Epic, Necromunda & Blood Bowl, and collected armies for each of them. 40k has always been my favourite, and when I returned to the hobby after a brief uni break, it's pretty much the only game I've played since. I still keep my Necromunda gangs and the odd Blood Bowl team lying around, but everything else is lost, sold, in bits, or converted into something else!

40k ARMIES

ADEPTUS ARBITES

These took a lot of tracking down on eBay in 2006 and are a mix of the original Arbites models and some Necromunda Enforcers. They're constantly being expanded, and will eventually work with all of the newer IG, SoB and BOLS Arbites Codexes.

TAU

After collecting lots of grotty Imperials and Chaos, I fancied a bold, bright change, and got this small Tau force in 2005 from a few eBay trades. I never used it that much, but recently got back into the idea. They're one of those armies that are always growing, and recently acquired an air force and an allied Gue'vesa detachment (as yet unbuilt!!) - you can see the P&M blog at http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/291790.page

SLAANESHI DAEMONS

An all-Slaanesh Chaos Daemons army that grew out of my original 3ed Emperor's Children army. It features all four eras of daemon models, and quite a few conversions, in a lovely dayglo orange. It was started around 2005 with the Chaos Marine section, got split up in 2007, and was updated, completed and repainted in 2010. The P&M blog for this is here - http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/276282.page

IMPERIAL GUARD - SQUATS

In 2009, myself and Panic attended a doubles tourney and decided to start new armies for it. The squats were the result, made from some oop Squat models and a bunch of plastic Dwarf Warriors. The original army was only 500pts, but it was updated after the tourney to around 1400pts. I've now got enough original Squats for a full army, so this will get an update at some point. The P&M blog for this army is here - http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/261424.page

SLAANESHI CHAOS MARINES

This was originally the Chaos Marine half of my Emperor's Children army, built in 2005. After the split in the codexes, and throughout 2008, I expanded it to include some more generic units and use up more of my vast collection of CSM bits. There's only a few models left to paint, and in 2012 I updated them to match my Daemons with some washes and rebasing. There are plans for an expansion with some allied IG/Chaos Cultists...

OLD/SOLD ARMIES

WHITE SCARS

This was started in 2004 as a 3ed White Scar force from Index Astartes, with everything either on bikes or in transports. After a big update, repaint and completion in 2008, they're now a full Marine army with a multiples of practically everything, though still featuring lots of bikes and mobile troops. My biggest army, at around 6000pts. At some point I'd like to re-work these and turn it into a jetbike army - some day...

IMPERIAL GUARD - DRADE 117th SUICIDE LEGION

A penal-legion themed Imperial Guard army built and converted from the old Void 1.1 Junkers range. I had the old junkers from an earlier project and thought they'd make a great close-assault IG army. They played their first games in 2010 at the Platinum Devil event in Canterbury, and the army is now finished, though I plan to make an 'Ogryn Auxilia' version at some point. The P&M blog for this is here - http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/257179.page

IMPERIAL GUARD - 3RD CHOUFLEUR MILITIA

My first scratch-built army when I got back into the game in 2003, made mainly of Empire Militia models. Originally I included every IG model I owned, but I've since swapped out some models, and have started rebuilding this into a horde/infantry Guard force. I've done 500pts so far, for a Combat Patrol tourney in 2010. The P&M blog for this army is here - http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/327974.page#2118896

FUTURE PROJECTS

I spend a fair amount of time in the swap shop, and have assembled a lot of model collections which I intend to build and paint in the future. Here's the list of 'future armies' that I'll get around to at some stage.

  • Grey Knights - entirely 1ed Grey Knight terminator army with significant Inquisitorial presence
  • Pre-Heresy White Scars - 28 Scimitar Jetbikes all ready to rebuild the White Scar army
  • Militarum Tempestus - made from Necromunda Van Saar models.

TERRAIN

We usually played on Panic's fantastic collection of terrain, but in 2009 he had to pack his things away for a house move, and so I started building my own table in my basement. It's still growing, but serves us fine in all our battle reports. The P&M blog for my terrain can be found at http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/270642.page

BATTLE REPORTS

I make Battle Reports with Panic, an archive of which can be found here - http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/488180.page

We also have a guide to making photo Battle Reports, which can be found here - http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/491923.page
